Remarks

Shivaji College overall was a very good experience for me and three years there was a lifetime a lot of learning that I have there and lot to carry forward in my life

Entrance Preview

I had a best of 4 score of 93 per cent in CBSE HSC 2015. I chose Mathematics Hons because of my interest and facilities that college provided.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course structure of DU under CBCS is quite Liberal as one gets a plethora of options all through the course, which is six semesters, to opt for an elective course which one sees of interest and use in future. In Mathematics Hons, we had lab assessments as well for practical knowledge of applied mathematics.

Internships Opportunities

No. The college didn't provide internships. However, there are several student run organizations which college promoted and students were free to participate.

Placement Experience

3.5

Companies like Royal Bank of Scotland came for the recruitments during our final semester. The packages were in the range of 3 to 4 Lacs per annum. For students of mathematics and CS especially, the opportunities were great as the companies that came for placement provided JDs suited for our careers.

College Events

5

Events and Fests were the best part our lives at the University. From Departmental fests to college fest, we had several opportunities to participate in competitions and events. In fact, at DU, one gets various opportunities to participate in several fests hosted in different colleges, as participation is open for all!

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure of Delhi University is by all means and all standards very reasonable and fair. Our yearly fee was around 11000 Rupees. So overall 33000 Rupees for 3 years at Shivaji College for BSC Hons, including lab fees, examination fees and security amount. And we also had option to withdraw security money anytime that we wanted.

Fees and Financial Aid

No scholarship for loan facility was offered by my college as such however during the time of admission sports quota NCC quota and special achievements category exist in which provided rebate in peace as well as reservation of seats at the Shivaji College

Campus Life

4.5

Gender ratio was very good almost 50/50 and campus life was really very exciting we always at something new to do each and every semester you after year sports day was conducted every year as well as the College Fest and other competitions like olympiads in computer examinations debates robotics and they were already very well and really very good

Alumni/Alumna

The seniors were really very helpful during the first two years until we became seniors ourselves the overall culture and you is really very amicable because you get to interact with teachers and your seniors very helpful and ragging is banned so student should not be worried about facing ragging at college of University of Delhi

Exam Structure

The labs were conducted moderately well in terms of frequency. Practical labs (Mocks, as well as Final) were conducted really very well, giving each student an ample amount of attention for right assessment. Semesters Exams were conducted by the University of Delhi and no such thing as Mid semester examination exists IN Shivaji college.

Admission

DU Application forms for BSC admissions are released in the month of June after the 12th board results are declared. The admission process for Shivaji College is online now. Though, one must present the original certificates and result at the admission office during the final selection after the cut offs are declared.

Faculty

4

Faculty of Mathematics had most number of professors in the entire college because of the size and strength of the department. Overall, the faculty was great. As far as other departments are concerned, the faculty was good but I don't have enough knowledge about other departments.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum consists of relatable topics and interesting ones as well this is what quite influenced me to take this course. We have labs which help us learn how to prepare various organic compounds which are used in many day to day products . The course also has a 4th year research program. There should be more equipments in lab for the research. The frequency is good for exams being conducted and there level is also quite good

The students become eligible for the placements provided by the college in their 3rd year, while they can pursue internship offered by the college in previous years. Average sized companies visited the campus with lots of students being placed for jobs. The highest package I am not aware of but lowest was of around 300000 pa. I plan to pursue masters after my graduation degree.

Students become eligible for campus placements from the 6th semester. I don't know a lot about campus placements but I know that there is a training and placement cell in our college that provides good packages to many students. Some students got more than 7lpa last year. I will be doing my Post graduation after college and will make a career in academics.
