College Review

The college management is very friendly and straightforward. There is no unfair means in any aspects. The management is completely against ragging and other indiscipline conducts.They are always ready to help every student and there are less possibilities of any major issues.

After my plus two I appeared the Jee main exam along with 14 lakh other candidates and scored 98 marks and the cutoff was just 81. So, I got an AIR of 77169. At the first sight of my results, I decided quickly for CET-Bhubaneswar over other government colleges because it is the best college after NIT Rourkela that one can get in Odisha. Also, it is located inside the city and is easily accessible with all types of facilities available. Above all, it has a good placement statistics, decent infrastructure, and good faculty.

Starting from the first semester, the academics are not that heavy. You will be given 5 common subjects till the second year and the subjects will later become branch specific from second year onwards and will later decrease from third year onwards. Generally, the trend is that first and third year are difficult in engineering as compared to the second and fourth year. Here in the autonomous system, we have 2 internal exams of total 50 marks each, lab exam for each lab of 50 marks each and a semester exam of 100 marks for each subject at the end of each semester.

Yes, the college does provide internships with the help of its large and strong alumni networks as well as good corporate relations. Also one will get the opportunity to select from a large number of internship opportunities recommended by the college. On average students get a general stipend of 2000-6000. Some internships also do not pay any stipend to students. The overall experience in these internships is good. It all depends upon one's own abilities and knowledge.

This college provides caters good placements and job opportunities. Many students get placed in various reputed companies every year. Companies like TCS,ACCENTURE,MARUTI SUZUKI,VEDANTA,GODREJ AND BOYCE,BOSCH,FLIPKART, TECH MAHINDRA etc visit the college and recruit a large number of students. The highest package ranges from 2500000-2700000, the lowest package generally ranges from 220000-260000 and the average package is around 375000.

The college organizes many inter and intra college activities, competitions and events. The college every year organizes Engineer's cup in cricket where many colleges participate. Many other sports competitions are also organized in the college. It organizes 'X-tasy' its college fest every year. Many other literary and co-curricular events are also organized by the college.

The fee structure is very feasible. Once you have to pay 36500 every year.Other small charges you have to pay as fine in case of lab breakage, library fine, book bank fine etc. You can also opt for study loan incase of any financial issues. There are also provisions for many scholarships.

The college has provisions for economically weaker sections. The college also offers CET Merit scholarship of 400 per month to 10% of students of each class. Medhabruti scholarship, Minority scholarship, Post matric scholarship, Need and Merit scholarship etc are also awarded to the students of the college.

The college provides an excellent space for holistic development. Generally, the gender ratio is nearly the same in the college. The diversity is not much as most students of the college are from Odisha and a few are also from other states. Many events like freshers party, college fest etc are organized. Many clubs are there in the college which organize a lot of workshops and events. There are no political activities in the college. The economic status of the college was not that good but now after a lot of efforts is increasing.

Now there are four hotels in the campus,two for boys and two for girls.First year students are accommodated in a rented hostel outside the campus but the first year girls hostel is inside the campus.The hostel fees are always very nominal and the hostel food is always of good quality.

This college has a very large and supporting alumni network who are always active to help you in any issues.Also the senior students are very co-operative and friendly. There are no instances of ragging in the college.The senior students always readily help their juniors at the time of need.

The admission process is very simple and easy.I just had to mention about this college as my first preference along with my choice branch in the jee's seat locking process.I got a seat confirmed in my choice branch in the second round of seat allotment process. Then I was called for document verification in which I had to submit a photocopied set of the asked documents and showed them the original ones for verification. Later I was called again for admission in which I paid the required fees and my documents were again verified.So finally after this I got a seat in the mechanical branch of the college.

The college has many highly qualified and experienced faculty members.But here the government has not recruited sufficient faculty members for which the present faculties work beyond their limits to ensure quality education but both students and teaching staff face a lot of issues.
