Thapar University explored from inside and out.

The course is very detailed and upto date , from second year we are exposed to core computing subject like dbms , os and data structures . After second year we are introduced to industry taught electives that focuses on machine learning , cyber security , financial computing , devops and development . Exams are held 3 times in a semester that are mid terms , end terms and sessional evaluations the difficulty is moderate to difficult . Projects are also a part of the curiculum usually one per semester.

Internship opportunities are limited with a handful of companies coming for it . The average selection rate is around 2-3 students from the pool . Stipend is 35000 from expedia , 75000 from jpmorgan 40000 from barclays , 25000 from ibm .

Students are eligible from placements from 7th semster , almost all major companies including google , apple , arcesium , ibm , future first , delloite , amazon , flipkart etc come for placements totalling of around 2000+ offers , average package in cs branches only is 12 lpa and highest is 55lpa . Percent of students getting placement in this academic year is 60 percent .

The complete academic fee excluding hostel is around 20 lakhs , 10 percent hike is applicable after a year . Scolarships are available based on your cgpa and financial situation , around 500 + seats for them are available , which exclude your tution fees however 50000 development fee is still applicable .

Many fests are held approx 1 per month these are conducted by different socities , saturnallia is the biggest cultural fest held in november , urja is the biggest sports fest held in february . Almost all books are available in library also many subscription to serives such as quill bot is provided bu the library . Classrooms have projectors and handheld projector in them and are centrally cooled . The campus have all major sports facilites available inc swimming , lawn tennis and gym in all hostels .

All rooms are equipped with ac's and are in 2s 3s and 1s accomodation , reading light attached washrooms with gyesers and laundry services is provided by the hostel . Meals are provided by an internationl companhy known as sodexo and the taste is average-good . Every sem hostel allocation form is circulated to intereted student , hostel fee is around 50000 + 22000 for mess per semester .

The admission process was very smooth i applied directly on the admission portal of the college the fee was 1500 the portal was open for a month just after the 10+2 score was declared . The main criterias were your jee mains score and 10 + 2 score . Cut off for computer based branches is around 90+ in your 10+2 if you have home state quota , if you don't have that it is around 94 + .
