Remarks

So far No. Xavier's is a way of life it just penetates down your skin and you miss it when you walk out of the college.

Entrance Preview

I opted for this college because I always wanted to do Geology and St. Xavier's College Mumbai is the best-known college for it. Also, considering its only one of the two colleges in Mumbai which has geology for bachelors level while the rest are for masters.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course curriculum as I would describe is good. It looks into the aspect of how students would understand things in the period of three years. So, it starts off with the very basic concepts in the first year followed by the increasing level of difficulty in the next two years.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, my college obviously provides paid internships. I am not very sure about it because I didn't apply for it.

Placement Experience

4

The placements and job opportunities at my college are really great. Students get to choose jobs from a wide range of fields. I didn't apply for it because I wanted to carry on with the Master's programme. But a few of my friends have got placed under really good paid jobs.

College Events

4.5

There is a wide range of events celebrated at my college from Malhar to Blood Drive we have it all. But a small list is given below: Malhar - college fest Paradigm - Science fest Blood drive PC Mela - Out reach programme Terra - Geology fest Lit-o-fest XAC- Chemistry fest

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is extremely and completely feasible. With hardly 7000 rupees as year tuition fees, it accounts to almost free education. Payment is only made once a year and that is very less Like I already said. Any other payment like field trips we have to the sponor them.

Fees and Financial Aid

I am not sure about this one but there are college scholarships for underprivileged and students with high marks.

Campus Life

4

The female to male ratio is pretty impressive. You'd see more females than males in extracurrilar activities and competitions. The college is very diverse, it has students from all over India. The college holds alot of foreign exchange students and also many international student.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

The hostel as per how my friends have described it would be average. The rules are pretty strict and so is the warden. The mess food is always a mess of food which is well not to be described. But the college canteen food is amazing with uncountable varieties.

Alumni/Alumna

I am not sure. I haven't really tried to create a network amongst people being introvert can do that you.

Exam Structure

The exam structure of my college is a jit different than the others. We have a semester system. Each semester has 2 CIA's(internal test) both of which account for 20 marks each. The first CIA is generally a test type and the second one is a project based exam. This is followed by the end semester exam which is for 60 marks.

Admission

The admission took place first by declaring of merit list on the college website followed by an interview with the professors(usually the head of departments). Ones the the Professor in charge approves of you, you get the admission in to the college.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose Biotechnology because it is a multidisciplinary field. We get to study not only topics related to biotechnology but also biochemistry, bio physics, bio informatics, bio statistics, etc. Mostly everything that is essential for future exams is taught during the span of 3 years. The topics of the units are taught in depth but the questions asked during exams are comparatively easy as to what all we studied. The frequency of the exam is, 1 internal exam which consists of both mcqs and written exam, the semester exam for each semester and practical exams for each subject. If u have studied then you will be able to attempt the questions.

Placement Experience:

My college gives campus placement placement opportunities typically after 4th semester, which is the 2nd half of the 2nd year. As my college has a partnership with IBM so the standards of campus placement go right up as the placement depends on the curriculum performance of the student so can't really say much for this. If saying as a stalemate, getting a placement is basically confirmed if the student maintains his/her CGPA of 6-7, which shows the consistent of the student in their field.
