Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University:Epitome for Civil Engineering or a Myth?

The curriculum and the teachers qualifications in their respective fields were exemplary but the problem was there were some subjects that didn't have any teachers and we were not able to study those subjects for atleast 3-4 months in a semester which was very furiating and management was dragging the process as much as they can.The teachers who were teaching us were quite good and I have no hope for them to further improve(Some) and some teachers were mind boggingly good.

L&T were not providing with internship project but were directly recruiting them in the company. SRM on the other hand were providing with Internship facility with a stipend of 10000? per month and after the completion of degree they will give the necessary salary package of 4-6 Lakh. Others can also do internship under PWD, NHAI, Hydropower Plant Projects etc.(6 Month Time) You can also choose to stay in the University and carry on with the Major Project under the guidance of your respected teacher for the next 6 months with some subjects which you need to study and pass.

Companies like L&T,SRM conducted interviews in the University and took student to pursue the construction life.Though the placement was provided to only 15-20% of the class but several students were pursuing for government exams. Highest Package was between 6-7 Lakhs PA Lowest Package was -4-5 Lakh PA Plans after getting the degree are pretty mind wrenching so I'm not going to share that on this platform. I can tell that some students want to Join Indian Army, Some want to clear UPSC and some want to become Government Employees in their respective field of interest.

Course Fees-?66000 Per semester Hostel Fees- ?22504 Per Year Mess Fees- ?22504 Per Year Annual Fees - ?10000 Scholarships were provided to top 5 students who have scored more than 8.5 Cgpa in that semester although the process to get the Fee was hard but it was surely provided Companies like L&T, SRM Contractors etc. came for the interview of candidates for placements. Packages going above 6LPA and some above 4 LPA

There were various clubs under the umbrella of SMVDU from Theatre to Robotics you can say it all.They were fully functional clubs with their heads supporting each club member.Library in the University was very good as it contained several books but to a limit which were helpful for the students and it provided a comfortable space to study and relax your mind at the same moment. Sports League were conducted every semester like those of IPL and ISL though small but intriguing.Some tournaments were between branches such as Civil, Electronics etc and some were mixed with players getting selected by auctions and some were housewise games which included Prithvi,Jal, Vayu etc. There was NSS in the University which was very interesting and their concept to bond with the neighbouring Villages was very good as it opened doors for many opportunities. There was a program called VIKALP in our University where we teach students who were not able to afford tuitions and are eager to study.

The hostel rooms provided in the second year were accommodated by 2 People and were very good.Meal quality was sometimes good and sometimes bad but it won't make you ill for sure.Though negligence was there by the mess staff and many incidents happened.The food was basic. Online Registration for Hostel and Mess was given and it was not a hefty amount to be honest for a year accommodation and food. After 2nd year students are provided separate rooms for each and everyone of them and their includes other option of coming from their respective homes and not living in the hostel.

I was admitted to the college with the help of JOSAA i.e CSAB counseling via JEE Mains.Through CSAB with the quota of EWS I was able to join the University.On my arrival their were 1 Minor exam of 30 marks, Assignment of 10 Marks, Quiz of 10 Marks and the Major Examination of 50 Marks but in our 4th Semester the pattern changed to 2 Minor Exams of 20 Marks each, Assignment/Quiz of 10 Marks and Major Exam of 50 Marks.
