Course Curriculum Overview
I personally like studying about Cybersecurity and Programming so CSE's the only option for me + this was probably the best university I was getting anyways. The curriculum is easy if you start studying little by little from the beginning since some teachers really do focus on certain details throughout the semester. The curriculum is indeed a bit old as well as the labs but everyone has a laptop these days anyways. ECE's really having a good growth over here in terms of labs and all that. They really should start teaching more interesting topics though for first year because they are going to make you go through ever single possible branch in every university. You might not like that. The exam timings are basically 2 minor exams and a major exam for every semester and getting marks will be hard if you don't start studying early, even starting early results in not so good grades so make sure you balance study and you fun time nicely.
Placement Experience
On campus placements are fine. You are eligibility after you 4th year for on campus placements. Students regularly crack off campus placements too with good lpa of around 10-20. No. Of companies that visit for cse is less as compared to ECE. The highest that ever went was around 20lpa and the lowest might go around 3-4. The average remains at 8-9 as I want to remain positive about it lmao. Usually all of girls get placed but the same does not apply to boys. As long as you work hard the culture here is helpful enough to crack a good placement in this university. My plans after getting a degree are not exactly clear but higher education at a more developed country sounds cool. The students are rather motivated and competitive about placements.
Fees and Financial Aid
Tution fee increases every year by a bit according to seniors , but if you do get a Rand under 100000 in jee, then you need not worry about that because you can avail a scholarship, it is basically maintaining a 7.5+ gpa every year so that you can give away basically no tuition fee every semester. It's great so studying is rather important if you have this benefit, I do not have this though so rip. Total cost I think would be around 5-6 lakhs , if I include the hostel and mess too. Even after maximising everything with no scholarships I don't think it could go over 8 lakhs. In general if you came through any other way, if you maintain a gpa of 8.5+ you can still avail a no tuition scholarship. Various scholarships for reserved students are also there if you want to check them out you can visit their website itself. Since the campus itself is in Jammu, the employment isn't much, you have to try for remote internships and such, although the stipends are good if you work hard enough
Campus Life
Many technical fests and clubs are here at Smvdu for you to attend, the point is that they are here to provide you with opportunities. There's also a Sport event held yearly called Saarang which is great too. Then you have some mid winter events too regarding various tech fields and bootcamps. Overall there's so much to learn. The library is good too, lacks books in literature but has literally every book other that that. A great source for GATE preparation I must say. The lecture halls and classrooms are well ventilated and smartboards are there too to assist. Also the quality of rooms is great too Probably every sport (if we exclude swimming, is available on campus) and hostels have their own badminton courts too for playing. Lastly, there are more that 10 student clubs here too which are quite fun, ranging from code clubs to theatre and food clubs, we probably got everything over here to enjoy. Also the clubs are very enthusiastic about their progress too
Hostel Facilities
The hostels are fine as well as the meals provided by the mess. Although I personally don't like the mess menu that much. The rooms are well ventilated, curtained and provide a great landscape to view from the outside. The food at the mess has a pretty standard variety although you do have a small canteen in the hostel too just in case. The hostel fees curent is 20k and the same is for mess too, the affordability is fine from my perspective and registering for hostels is pretty easy too. I am a hosteller and we have a few day scholars in our batch too. Although I don't think there's any pg around the campus. The hostels are upto five floors and the architecture is a bit hard to understand in the beginning but later you will be used to it. Lastly there are badminton courts and a small canteen in the hostel too for some quick treats if anyone feels like it so that great I guess.
Admission
The Eligibility of the course is simple, you apply for Jee and if you get a rank between 100000 you can easily get CSE at this University. Also scores of CUET are also accepted through engineering courses. I am from CUET so they provided a list of all participating universities, there you can find SMVDU's website to apply. CUET's pretty much easier from a jee perspective I believe so it's a good backup exam I think a better way would be to provide brochures with proper details about the admission process, they made it especially hard to get any sort of valid information regarding this through their website and samarth portal
