A journey through SMVDU

Cource curriculum in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness is smooth and good. But the new education policy NEP is a kind of burden for students. Because via NEP the college is teaching Biology to Btech students and this is completely unfair. There should be flexibility to choose our desired subjects. Apart from this the overall curriculum is good and it prepares students to face real world problems. Exams are also conducted on time sometimes there's some delay in the exam schedule.

During the btech many companies comes here to provide intership. Along with companies IITs and NITs also approach in this college to provide internship opportunities to the students. Recently Microsoft is providing an internship to the students of 3rd year and above. One need to work hard to get internship here.

The condition of campus placements in this college is very poor. Only about 30-50% students get placed through campus placements. And the average package of the placement is about 3 to 5 LPA. In this college students from some core branches like ECE secures good packages through off campus placements. Some students in ECE branch have got about 1Cr. Package through off campus placements. If you want to get good placement from this college then you have to get ready and prepare for off campus placements.

The fee structure for this college is quite high. It's about more than 2 Lakhs 15 thousand per year for BTech courses. Hostel and mess fee is also included in this. The scholarship is provided to btech students on the basis of Jee mains rank. If your rank is below 1 lakh in jee mains exam then you can get about 90% scholarship but there's some terms and conditions with that scholarship. When it comes to financial assistance I guess there's JK bank which provides education loan to students, but the interest rate is not fair for students.

My overall experience with the environment of this college is average. I'm not satisfied with the management and facilities of this college. Because the amount of fees they charge and the quality of the facilities they provide is not balancing the equation. Infrastructure of the college is satisfactory. Environment for clubs is also average (may be below average) because in this college there's only one club that is very active that is GDSC club in tech branches. All other clubs are like hidden gems. Hostel rooms are good but washrooms are in worse condition. Drinking water quality is very poor. Food quality in the mess is horrible.

Hostel facilities in the college is a mixture of good and bad. When it comes to fees of the hostel then it's very good as the college provides 1 year of accomodation in hostels just for Rs.20000. Therefore hostels are very affordable. But the facilities in the hostel are very poor. Rooms are fine in the college but the condition of washrooms are horrible. Urinals have leakage jet sprays are damaged water quality is not good. Water is not purifier properly. In hostel room they provide a bed with a table and a chair. They don't provide mattress. You have to buy mattress yourself. The quality of food in mess is pathetic. Tasteless and unhealthy food is being served in mess. You'll rarely get green vegetables in the mess menu. They only serve you rajma, chhola etc. Mess food is very poor here. Most of the students prefer to eat outside most of the time. If you're someone who's foodie and can't live without food food then this college is not for you. You'll suffer here a lot.

Admission process was through Jee mains score. Along with that one can also get admission through CUET exam. There is no seperate application form for this college. We got admission through Jee mains score via JOSSA and CSAB councelling.
