Remarks

This college can give you everything you want in your life come and enjoy the life in NIT Srinagar.

Entrance Preview

I opt for this college because it is one of the 31 NIT's that is Institutions of National Importance so one has a wider scope for job placements. Moreover, i am from Kashmir so an institution in home place will serve a better purpose. Also, there are various alumni from our college who are having pretty good placement records

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is pretty good yet hectic. In the first year that means 1st and 2nd semester all the branches are mixed up like every student irrespective of his/her branch has the common subject. In 2nd year one goes to his particular branch. Every semester has its own credits and result is compiled on the basis of CGPA

Internships Opportunities

No. Our college doesn't provide internship of any sort. In fact, students from our college have to go to other companies for the internship.

Placement Experience

4

Placements are fantastic if you are the hard worker with a good personality. Highest record from my college is 72 lacs from Computer science department..other branches also have the highest placements bands varying from 6 lacs to 30 lacs. Maruti Suzuki, Tata, Fitjee, adobe, and other companies do visit the campus frequently. Mass recruiters like Wipro etc also come very often. In 2017 more than 80% of students got placed.

College Events

4

There are various events conducted by different clubs in the college. Events are being conducted by Semicolon (coding club) webyte(coding club) gokart club(making rally cars) and the main technical event of college that is TECHVAGANZA which is likely to be held in September

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure depends on the income band. At the start of admission, one has to submit fee of 45000 to the college and a separate fee of mess and hostel 17000 and 1650 respectively (for hostellers) for 1st semester. Students with family income less than 1 lac per annum are supposed to release that excess amount from those 45000 every semester for them admission fee is 3100

Fees and Financial Aid

The scholarship is provided through National scholarship portal to the students below 1 lac income and 1-5 lac income band. Loan facility can be taken from the bank and fee can be decided there in college. The college itself doesn't provide any sort of loan

Campus Life

3.5

The campus is situated at Dal lake Srinagar with Hazratbal Dargah at one side and the famous Dal lake at the other side giving it a scenic view. In the middle of the mountains, one can enjoy nature completely. The college has approx 3500 boys and 400 girls. Labs are not that much infrastructured. but their repairment is going in. Inter NIT competitions of various sports are held every semester. Robotics dont find much scope in our college.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostels are good with an accommodation of 4 students per room ist year will have industry hostel. Hostels have proper washrooms, bathrooms with greasers. Hostels also have wifi routers with pretty much speed. Hostels have badminton court inside with gym and tables tennis hall at some distance and basketball court in the main ground. Moreover, Hostels have internal mess with average food quality. In non-veg, mess gives chicken mutton and fish in the alternative days of the week

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network is at their best for their NIT Srinagar alma matter. Senior students are very helpful and provide maximum exposure to the juniors. Ragging is banned in the college.

Exam Structure

Exams are conducted two times firstly after 1 and a half months from the start of the session that is mid-term which comprises of 30 marks and at the end of session there are majors of 60 marks and class assessment of 10 marks which sums up to 100 marks. Exams consist of 5 questions out of which 4 have to be done (in majors)

Admission

Firstly one has to appear for JEE Mains examination conducted by CBSE every year. Once qualified one get an admission in any NIT based on his score.I got admission in NIT Srinagar through various seat allotments rounds conducted by JOSAA One has to keep all his documnets handy for the admission procedure like marks certificate, domicile, income, jee mains score card, seat allotment letter and the date of reporting for admission will be already notified un josaa's official website.

Faculty

4.5

The college has old yet intellectual faculty with an experience of above 25 years of teaching. The college also has faculty from various iits and nits. The teaching faculty mainly focuses on the syllabus (not on other competitive exams like if you are aspirant for gate exams) so dont expect too much else they are pretty good in teaching.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is quiet relevant it covers all the important subjects and topics.I chose the Ece branch as the demand of semiconductors is rising in the future. The curriculum perpares us well for real world applications. The course teaches us a lot of outdated concepts but it misses out to teach about what is happening in the world right now. So the course can involve a lot of topics that are in trend.

Placement Experience:

Placemets start right from your 7th semester. Most comapnies that would come here would be like vedanta , ashok leyland etc etc who mainly do mass hiring, th no of offers are quite low as for durig my time most companies qul do diversity and hiring would only select girls and the girls were low in numbers as compared to the boys so each girl recieved atleast 2-3 offers while rarely a boy would even rev=cieve a single offer. The highest package was offered by Vedanta but it was 13 lpa in ct in hand it would be arond 5-6 lpa , the average package was also the same around 5-6 lakhs per annum. Percentage of students placed would be around 30 percent but they inflated the numbers heavily but showing only the students who were eleigible as boys were mostle ineligible. My plans are to look for masters somewhere abroad.
