Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is good but mainly focused on theory. The curriculum is a bit outdated and in some branches it is less focused on real world applications. The course content can be improved. Exams are very frequent happening every 1.5 months.
Internships Opportunities
The internship opportunities are vast in IIT Kharagpur. The internships are available from 3rd year for btech students and from 4th year for dual degree students. The salary offered in internships for some top students go upto about 3 lakh per month.
Placement Experience
The placements in IIT is always very good. The placements in my branch is very good standing at more than 90% from past three years and the average package is 30lakh. The overall average package is around 20lakh. Highest package offered last year was 2.6 crore.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure is very good. The total fee per year is Rs300000. 200000 is tuition fee and 100000 is hostel, mess and other fees. Scholarship are available for students whose family income is less than 6 lakh per annum. Scholarships are also available for some branch toppers.
Campus Life
The overall experience in IIT Kharapur is is very good. The annual and technical festivals are one of the biggest in India and are held in January. The facilities like sports are very good. Infrastructure is top notch and the clubs and societies are also interesting.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facilities is good. The room does not have Air Conditioner. The mess food is average in my hall which is MMM. The hostel fees is very less and affordable. The registration process of the hostel is along with the registration of the college.
Admission
The admission process was from JEE Advanced. The application process was online and application fee was 1000rs and the admission process was through josaa portal. The exam is a yearly exam and it is the second most challenging exam in the world.
