All About Thapar

The course curriculum is very good for computer science and engineering. Real world projects are told to be made by us. Exams are taken 2 time: mid semester and end semester exams and difficulty is medium to hard. It focuses on software and also have an elective basket at the end of second year. Each student can choose one elective form elective basket which he or she shall study for next 2 years. Sometime, teachers only focus on exams so i think this shall be improved.

Many companies offers internships like JPMC (Stipend Rs.75000 per month), Optum(Rs.40000 per month ), American Express (Rs.125000 per month) and many more companies come. They provide summer internships, 6 month inetrnships and placement. They majorly come for technical roles sucha s AI engineer, Software engineer, ML engineer and also for non tech roles. I was offered JPMC internship (Rs.75000 stipend per month and Rs.50000 for reallocation).

Placements is good as compared to other private colleges. Mnay big companies like JPMC, accenture, American Express comes for summer intenship, 6 month internship and placements. Approximately all students are placed. Dream companies like apple and google also visits our campus. Student become elligible for placements from 6 semester. Highest package: 63 lpa (linkedin) and average package: 10-12 lpa. Percentage of student getting placed is: 83% approx.

For computer science, admission fee: 31900, first semester:223800 second semester: 200800, third sem:218900 fourth sem: 240400, fifth sem:238600, sixth sem:238600 . This does not include hostel and mess fees. Fess increases 10% every year. This fee structure is only for computer realated fileds. Other streams such as mechanical, civil ,ECE, ENCS have lesser fees. Scholarships are also provided at the end of each year to top scorer form each stream.

Various technical festivals such as Orion is conducted once an year, Saturnalia fets is conducted (This yaer Mohit Chauhan was inve=ited to perform in staurnalia). It is a three day event. A sport event is conducted: Urja that is inter college sports event. Thapar Has one of the best libaries in india. It is huge and has various rooms alloted specially for group discussions. All classrooms are centrally AC and have smart boards and projectors. Many clubs and societies are running in thapar both teachnical and non technical.

Many types of hostels are there: single seater, single seater AC with and without attached washroom , double sharing, Double sharing Ac with and without attached washrrom and similar goes for three sharing rooms. Meal quality is really good and they even provide with evening canteen and nigth canteen inside the hostel itself. Locality is beautiful and surrounded by trees and greens and a small lake which can be seen form girls hostel. Registration process is done along the admission form. Fees of mess and hostel room is segregated , like approx mess fee is 23000 (150/- per day, includes 3 meals) and hostel fees depens on the type pf hostel room choosen, it ranges form 36000 to 60000.

Starting from initial admission, the first was to fill the apllication form on their official website. Then, we need to fill these forms and they also require various documents, like adhaar card, class X marksheet and XII marksheet and many more. Than a cut off percentage is released for all streams. Marks of class 12 BOARDS and JEE MAINS, both are considered collectively. Multiple rounds of counselling is provided. I was even benefitted from State Quota Reservation, like thapar provides punjab quota to students who are either residing or have completed their schooling from punjab. In a year, 2 semesters are there, in total 8 semesters. And during each semester, quizes held two time along with mid semester exam and end semester exams. The difficulty of exams usually depends on subjects and usually it is medium. The areas that can be improved are like not all students should be given admission as it disturbes teacher to student ratio and percentage of punjab quota shoul be decreased .
