Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course stucture is decent. Having said that, I wish we had more seminars to understand real world applications. We learnt the basics which was fine but at the end when we were asked to make a project, it sort of put us in a spot. It was tough since we were never made to practice coding for real life applications. The lab sessions at one point seemed like typing classes since we were given the prints of the codes and we just had to type it out blindly. Teachers were knowledgeable, no doubt. They have been supportive too. But for the subject of electronics, never have I found the class interesting. The professor would come and speak non stop for 40 mins and leave as the bell rings. The exams were okay. The questions are not too tough. You just need to be thoroughly well versed with the class notes and the textbook.

Placement Experience

2.5

College does provide campus placement. But the average package is 5lpa. If you don't want to sit for placements, that either could be for pursuing masters or for looking jobs through outside sources. But i suggest, complete your masters and then looks for jobs, either thought campus placements or from anywhere else. That'll ensure a better package. And if you're a dedicated student. Don't wait until the end of the course for a job or an internship. Start looking for internships by the 2nd year itself. Keep working on some projects. Showcase it online.

Fees and Financial Aid

For students out of maharashtra, the fee is high. It's 60k on an average per year. For students from maharashtra It's about 30k. There are additional charges too. For exam forms, hal ticket, books, project files etc etc. Also the process for filling exam forms is pretty hectic. You need to shuffle between the college reception and a bank some miles away to get it done. There are some scholarships and financial aids available for students from (for the lack of a better word)low income families. You'll have to go through the college website for it. You need to fill an application to pass the eligibility criteria based on which you can avail the facilities.

Campus Life

2.5

The infrastructure is pretty small. Not much to explore. There are not many clubs available for student exposure. There's just one that i was a part of, rotaract club. But honestly it felt pointless. I just made some contacts and got out of it. I was annoyed that there was no club for improving communication skills for students so i started one myself. Later i realized even the students weren't much interested. Anyway, some 20 odd students joined the club and we used to have online debates, discussions etc. It was monitored by our college professors. You'll have to be proactive and initiate programs yourself if you want to grow. College will support you, but that's all it can do, offer moral support.

Admission

The admission process wasn't lengthy. There was no entrance test. There's an online application form that needs to be filled. It'll ask you for all the details, like education, family background etc etc.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose Biotechnology because it is a multidisciplinary field. We get to study not only topics related to biotechnology but also biochemistry, bio physics, bio informatics, bio statistics, etc. Mostly everything that is essential for future exams is taught during the span of 3 years. The topics of the units are taught in depth but the questions asked during exams are comparatively easy as to what all we studied. The frequency of the exam is, 1 internal exam which consists of both mcqs and written exam, the semester exam for each semester and practical exams for each subject. If u have studied then you will be able to attempt the questions.

Placement Experience:

My college gives campus placement placement opportunities typically after 4th semester, which is the 2nd half of the 2nd year. As my college has a partnership with IBM so the standards of campus placement go right up as the placement depends on the curriculum performance of the student so can't really say much for this. If saying as a stalemate, getting a placement is basically confirmed if the student maintains his/her CGPA of 6-7, which shows the consistent of the student in their field.
