D UDAY CHAND's Review On IIT Kharagpur - Indian Institute Of Technology - [IITKGP], Kharagpur

The course structure was very good, you will be learning lot of things if you really get involved, the focus on practical learning is also high, through labs, class room demonstrations,.. etc coming to research there are very good projects taken by the professors and will be given to the students if the willing one goes and asks for taking part with some prior knowledge about it.

Internships will be provided to the selected people from the interviews held by the company, this is also under the action of CDC, getting a campus intern is really tough, the stipend they give is around 30k per month. if the student performs well there in the intern he will be offered pre-placement.

Our placement board is CDC, a career development center, it approached the companies and they have some tie-ups for recruiting people. the placement percent is about 80% as a whole. the major recruiters are software fields. the opportunities for core are really low. the average package of a mechanical student in the core is 7-8 lpa.

We have the Asia's largest techno-management and cultural fests being held here. They are KSHITIJ and SPRINGFEST. as the area is quite remote area we dont expect very huge participation but even though they come in huge number. the college doesnt organise anything in the fest it was solely done by a set of students who really are interested in doing that.

The fee structure is relatively low compared to other colleges, for OC and OBC students it's approximately 1.5lakh per semester, for SC and ST it is 70k per semester. Coming to the scholarships most of the scholarships were present for SC and St students, it would be good if OC and OCB also have.

SC and ST have more scholarships, it's good if we do have them. regarding the loan, the loan will be easily provided by the IIT KGP SBI branch under the notice of institution.

You will be getting single rooms in the 2nd or 3rd year depending on the hall you get allotted. The food was OK. we get adjusted here, no other option is also available but it's not horrible. you can easily get habituated here.

We have ALUMNI cell here working with the relations with alumnus and allotting them as mentors.

I respect the faculty intake of IITies because in our college there is 52% vacancy for professors, the profs are getting hectic timetable due to this, even though institute was not giving the opportunities for the unqualified professors, still, they recruit qualified people only.
