What Students Say
Likes
- Balanced strictness, unlike some colleges which would be super strict like a school.
- Good social life, with a lot of hangout places within the campus, and food stalls around the campus.
- Location of the college, since this is situated in Sector V, the IT hub of Kolkata.
Dislikes
- Campus quality could have been better considering the amount of fees they charge.
- Old curriculum and way of teaching which needs to be updated.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is average, its still the old curriculum, but the main aspect of choosing this college was placements. They hand out some of the best packages. Even though the curriculum doesn't quite teach the necessary skills required, it does teach the basic knowledge and rest needs to be learnt from outside. The course curriculum should be updated, and thats said for makaut, since this college is affiliated to makaut. Exams are very frequent, sometimes once every month is taken, and difficulty is easy-moderate, being hard on the semester exam, which is not taken by the college but makaut.
Internships Opportunities
There have been internship offers from many companies like TCS, CTS, Mindtree etc, most being paid internships. Even though I don't know about the amount of stipend but from what I have heard it should be around 10000 rupees.
Placement Experience
Placements are very good in our college, according to seniors. They have started getting placements from the 6th semester. Most of the placements were in mass recruitment, with maximum students getting placed into companies like Wipro, TCS, Cognizant, etc., few of them getting off campus placements into companies like Google and Amazon. Average package was 6.5 LPA and highest package this year was 48 LPA. From what I've heard, around 65% of seniors got placements. My plans after getting the degree is to either get a good placement in non-mass recruitment, otherwise apply for higher education like M.Tech or MBA.
Fees and Financial Aid
Tuition fees are high for the first year and subsequently less for the upcoming years, with a hike of rupees 1000 every year. The complete cost of the course is 5.5 lakhs, with significantly higher costs for upcoming batches. Of course, scholarships are available like the West Bengal Student Credit Card Scheme and much other options. As such there is no campus employment available to students.
Campus Life
All the colleges of Techno Group have a plethora of social and technical events many times in a year. Flagship events such as EDGE and Anakhronos usually occur during the months of March and April. There are not a wide selection of books available in the library, and sometimes library refuses to hand over books. Most of the college campus doesn't have air conditioned classrooms, only a few rooms have air conditioners. Otherwise power outlets for phone and laptop charging are available in most classrooms. Sports and extracurricular activities are very much offered. There are two playgrounds in the campus with an indoor games room. There are yearly sports competitions hosted here by student clubs too. There are 6 student clubs run by students, catering to different domains of work, and those usually don't impact students life much.
Admission
Admission process was very smooth. I took admission through wbjee counselling, which followed all the given regulations. Application was allotted by the wbjee board and they would give their form only on verifying the student. I did not avail any reservation and there aren't any reservation quota in this college. The only exam required was wbjee and no other exam was taken for admission. Some cons during the admission process was poor management of a large number of people leading to confusion. Thats something that this college needs to improve, and rest was very smooth.
