Course Curriculum Overview
Clinical based learning and competency based medical education of the national medical commission attracted me towards this course. The clinical based learning aspect prepares us to face extremities in this field and it is highly useful and significant for the betterment of young doctors. As per my suggestion the areas for improvement includes doctor patient communication skills.
Internships Opportunities
Internship is of one and half years called as the period of house surgeonsy. The house surgeons are provided with a monthly stipent of a decent amount. Mainly the house surgeons forms the basic framework and they are the main workforce in the casualities
Fees and Financial Aid
The tution fee in the government sector is moderate and affordable for the majority in the society. The course fee for one year comprising special fees include 25370 rupees. The hostel fees is 50 per month. Financial aid is available for the students in the economically weaker section of society. Monthly stipent is available for the house surgeons
Campus Life
There are several extra co curricular activities in the college including sports fest, arts fest and medical exhibitions. Smrithi is an annual intercollegiate sports fest conducted by govt med college kottayam. MEDEX is annual medical exhibition. Then there is interbatch arts fest, interbatch sports fest held annually. Library is enormous with good facilities. Lecture hall is having smart board and is air conditioned
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facility gives an average experience. Study table chair and bed is provided at the hostel. The rent is very cheap being 50 rupees per month. The meals are of good quality having both veg and non veg menu. The mess is also of affordable price
Admission
Eligibility of the course is 12th grade and qualify NEET exam. The application form and further details are available in the site of NTA.NEET exam is once in a yearly exam usually conducted in the month of may. It is a national level entrance exam for medical admission. The exam is highly competitive and is based on 11th and 12th grade NCERT syllabus.
