Course Curriculum Overview

3

MBBS is such a vast course and its definitely not for the faint hearted. The long hrs of studying, sleepless nights and sacrificing ur mental health for the sake of learning is almost inevitable. It is of course very rewarding but many do not think through their choice until after a couple of years have passed. Those who have a passion for this job will definintely do good. The curriculum is so vast and it focusses on making each and every student competent in becoming a successful doctor. Teaching methods can defintely be improved especially during clinincal rotations. Many students lack the practical knowledge because they dont know where to learn it from. Practical exams are conducted. As for theory sessional exams are conducted 3-4 times a year and you can only appear for university exam if you have suffucient internal marks.

Internships Opportunities

2.5

After completing 4.5 years of academic education you need to complete 1 year of compulsory rotating internship which is also called house surgency. Stipend of rs. 28,000 is paid to interns every month.

Fees and Financial Aid

The tuition fee in my college ranges anywhere between 23,000-25,000. You have buy your own books and medical textbooks are not cheap. But various scholarships like Egrantz provide financial assistance, especially for the backward casts like OEC, SC, ST etc. Stipends are awarded only during the house surgency period which is after finishing 4.5 years of medical education. There are no placements provided by any medical colleges in india.

Campus Life

3.5

Our college union conducts almost all the celebrations, festivals and competitions in the campus as well as holds intercollegiate fests. It is such a big part of the college life and is very enjoyable. The classrooms are a little old but recently renovations began and it is tranforming the college into a very student friendly campus. There's not much to say about the campus per say but we do have a park and a couple of hangout spots here and there. We have a very active spots club we regularly hold interbatch, batch and intercollege sports fests. There are various clubs and activities for the taste of each and every student. It includes the music club, dance club, science club etc which are all run by the students.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

There are 2 hostels for ug girls and 1 for boys. Hostel facilities are satisfactory considering its a government college. Annual hostel fee is only around 600/-. But this does not include the mess fee which ranges around 3500 per month. Hostel food is satisfactory. You can always contact the authorities regarding the hostel food quality and make suggestions. A few private hostels and PGs are available nearby

Admission

Eligibility criteria for gaining admission to any medical college across the country is by passing the category wise minimum cut off marks in NEET-UG exam conducted by the NTA. Earlier +2 biology was mandatory for writing NEET. Reforming the eligibility criteria for the NEET-UG examination, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has decided to allow class XII students, without biology in their core subject combination, to apply for the test. The students who completed their 10+2 exams with physics, chemistry, and mathematics could now aspire to become doctors and appear for NEET UG. This is a departure from the previous regulations set by the Medical Council of India. Its conducted once a year. Scoring above 600 marks is important for getting into a good nedical college. All details regarding admission are available at the site neet.ntaonline.in Various scholarships like egrantz provided by the government are available once you get admission which helps pay for books and tution fee etc

Course Curriculum Overview:

It's always relevant to the content being taught by the teachers. They always use application based questions to prepare us for a real life situation as well. First aid training was also completed. Some of the teachers are very interactive while some not. Short exams are conducted on a weekly basis while internal exams are conducted every 2/3 months. Not that difficult but it isn't that easy either. Very strict checking, nothing is liberal.

The course is a pretty hard one i must say but the feeling of putting on a white coat and looking after patients is surreal and that's the main essence of the job. The curriculum is very vast but each subject is important in its own way. The exams are all conducted in such a way that there's enough time for us to prepare .
