Feedback on College Life

I would rate 9 out of 10 for the course curriculum. There are some courses like Structural Engineering, Fluid Mechanics, Environmental Engineering which made me have more interest to join Civil Engineering Branch. The curriculum which is provided in my college is good and any student on following this curriculum can gain good knowledge with minimum basics. I don't think there is any improvements needed for the courses we are provided with. But I want out faculty members/teachers to interact with students with live examples or real time examples as a reference to make us understand much easier. My college is conducting exams in proper way. They are punctual and difficulty of exams is moderate which will let the students know about their progress in their studies.

There are many companies which offer us internship every year like Sree Avenues, NHAI, BSNL, All India Radio, etc. but some companies don't provide us stipend. There are some projects like Soil analysis, Water resources tests, Building modelling, Estimation of resources, etc.

From the 7th semester, students are eligible to enter into the campus placements. There are more than 10 core companies visit our civil branch and nearly 50+ companies visit our college campus. There are very good companies like LnT, TCS, GMR airport, etc. The highest package received was 12 lakhs per annum. And average package is 4 lakhs per annum. In our civil branch, 50% students get placed every year. In complete campus, it's around 50% students are placed every year. I would like to plan to go for M. Tech in Structural Engineering for my higher studies.

Tution fee is reasonable as per the regulations we are provided with. But the hostel fee is exceeding the needs we are provided with. And it is not reasonable to our expectations. Amounts of scholarships available for students are good and profitable. With good knowledge and education from college training, an average student can easily place in a good job for sure.

In our campus, we are having a fest called STEPCONE which will be held in the month of February. And annual day celebrations also takes place in the month of March. In the library we are provided with, there are good no. of books and journals that are useful to the students. We are having good facilities like projector in classrooms, good labs, and AC's in labs with non-stop electricity and LAN connections. Our college highly encourages students to actively involve in sports and extracurricular activities. There are many student clubs available for the students development among which I am also taking as a lead in a student club called SECTOR.

In the hostel we are renting, there is unlimited lan ethernet provided with no power cut. Our rooms are provided with 3 chairs, 3 beds, 3 cupboards with a tubelight and 2 fans. The list provided in menu is very good but the meal quality is average. The registration process involved for the hostel is easy to proceed but not affordable.

After my completion of intermediate, my interest to join in CIVIL Engineering branch took my to join in GMRIT. The admission process was easy and I joined under the category of Management quota. The application form, fees and dates mentioned were reasonable to understand and complete the process. In the admission process, I personally didn't like to pay half of complete year payment in advance to the management. Other than that, everything else was good.
