Course Curriculum Overview
Medical colleges in kerala are under the KUHS university. The curriculum is excellent. The course duration is 5.5 years including house surgeoncy. In first year we have anatomy, physiology and biochemistry.
Fees and Financial Aid
Tuition fee is 30,000 per year. We also have to pay 10,000 PTA fund which is used to enhance the study environment on our college campus etc. Scholorship are made available for economically weaker students.
Campus Life
Kottayam medical college has a very good campus life in terms of friendly seniors , well fledged sports opportunities, music, dance, etc. We have events in almost all days here. Apart from that interbatch competitions and all festivals are also conducted here.
Admission
The qualification to study in a medical college is qualification of NEET and 12th board exam. NEET cut off for general category is 180/720. But to get into government medical colleges in kerala under general category you requires minimum 620 marks. I got 658 marks for NEET 2023 to get into kottayam medical college. The exam is conducted once in an year around may with 3 hour 20 minutes. Difficulty level is moderate but the competition level makes the exam tougher. Around 20 lakhs students are writing this exam each year. NEET 2023 was conducted in may 7th. Registration procedures started in March 2023. Result came on june 13th. I took admission in kottayam medical college september 12th. Admission procedures were smooth. My documents was first collected from Thrissur medical college, where I was first alloted later submitted in KMC. The college Union also helped us to make the admission procedures easier. My suggestion is to allote time for each student during admission time.
