Course Curriculum Overview
The MBBS course offers wide insight into medical practice and spans over 41/2 years +1 year internship.Now the CBME curriculum is being followed from 2019 as per directions of NMC.Each year at the end of a phase university examination will be conducted which consists of theory and practical.
Internships Opportunities
Everyone should attend 1 year of internship after they have passed final year university examination.This internship gives us opportunities to work in various departments of medical college.This enhances our clinical practice skills and experiences.
Fees and Financial Aid
The tuition fee for a year is 25,370/- .Apart from this,there is hostel establishment fee of 401,electricity bill-250-300 usually, per month.Various scholarships are available for financially weaker students.
Campus Life
Government medical college,Kottayam has a students union which conducts various programmes of cultural and social significance.There will be interbatch cultural, sports events.But the college premises offers very less areas of park and other leisure activities.
Hostel Facilities
I am staying in hostel provided by college.The infrastructure of hostel facilities are very poor. The hostel mess provides food for 140 / day and consists of average food.We have to pay establishment fee of 401 per month and also the electricity bill of 250-300 usually.
Admission
I applied for NEET UG examination during my 12th std.All the application details can be found in NTA website.In my first attempt I got 502 marks.Then I decided to drop a year and I worked hard from home by enrolling in online repeaters programme.I got 623 marks in my 2nd attempt and got admission in Government Medical College,Kottayam.
