What Students Say
Likes
- First thing that I liked about the college is that it has great fests line Tantrafiesta (Tech fest) , Abhivyakti (cultural fest), etc.
- Students in this college are crazy for coding which would help you a lot in paving your path for technical jobs.
- Sports events are also organized in this college like an event was organized recently named Kshitiz in which many games between teams of ECE
Dislikes
- College does not provide hostel to all students so some students has to live outside the campus.
- You will have to learn DSA with C language and not C++
- In time for hostel is 9:30 pm so basically you cannot enjoy night life
Course Curriculum Overview
Curriculum of colleges of national importance is generally unquestionable but one thing I felt that should be improved is that this college is still teaching Data structures in C language. Many students on their own are going for C++ but still they have to practice in C language for preparations of their exams. Moreover this college has only one academic block so they have to schedule classes for each section from morning 9 am to 6pm (students get free time betwwen classes), one class is at 9am and other is at 1 pm. Frequency of exam is much higher than other engineering colleges as they take 3 different exams in a semester whereas other colleges take only two exams in a semester namely mid sem and end sem. One exam is over and you start looking for the other exam to come over for you. They should completely remove this system and go for only two exams which would reduce the burden on students.
Internships Opportunities
Many companies visits this college for internship opportunities like Amazon, CRED, DelatX, HDFC life, IBM, NVIDIA, Tata Digital, TCS and many more. Stipend of many students were around 30,000 per month and some also reached 1 lakh per month, but some students also have to go for unpaid internship.
Placement Experience
Placements in this college are pretty decent. As a fresher I myself dont know much about the opportunities yet, but as of what I read in the placement brochure of the college, it provide great placement opportunities to students of both CSE and ECE and placements for ECE sometimes reach greater than CSE itself. Compamies like Google, Microsoft, Amazon visits for internship opportunities and other compamies like Wipro, TCS, Infosys visits for placement drive
Fees and Financial Aid
Despite being a Public private partnership college, fee structure of this college is very high as compared to other private colleges that are also good. For a single semester you have to pay around 1.23 lakh for a semester and 1.22 lakh hostel fees per year which account for total of around 14 lakh for 4 years of your college life which is very high as compared to other private colleges which you get for around the same rank. But you can always get a bank loan for your education which is easily approved by college and process for taking the loan is also very easy. Despite the loans you can also get scholarships through National Scholarship Portal and also your state scholarship program, but for general category candidates their is no such scholarship that can provide you a lot of aid in your college fees. Placements and internships are decents in this college as compared to private colleges.
Campus Life
Overall experience with campus life is not much great, as this college has a 100 acres of land provided by the government but infrastructure is not being made still. Only phase 1 construction is finished till now. Many IIITs which were approved by govt. with IIIT Nagpur has completed their 3rd phase construction but this college has not yet started its 2nd phase of construction. A few months ago Nitin Gadkari visited the college and inaugarated its 2nd phase of construction but it has not started yet. Main problem with campus life as a fresher is that you do not get a seat in college hostel so you do not get a campus life. You have to live in Dia residency which was suggested by the college itself but thats the total waste of money. Despite that I suggest you to rent a flat in case you dont get a seat in hostel because that is way cheaper, well faciliated and you can overcome the travelling issues.
Admission
Admission Process: When I reached here, I did not face many difficulties because all the required documents were mentioned in the admission letter and the website. So overall admission process is easy as they give you 15 days of extra time even if you are short of any documents. Exam Freq: In IIIT Nagpur exam freq. is high as compared to other colleges, because in other colleges there are only two exams in a semester mid sem and end sem but in this college, there are three namely sessional one, two and end sem. One exam is over and you see the next coming just right after it and you have to prepare well for each one of them.
