What Students Say

Likes

It was the closest government to my home
It was near national highway so easy to reach
The college atmosphere was very nice and quiet

Dislikes

The college starts at 9 Am so I have leave early from house
Railway station is not near the college which makes it difficult for me since I was far away from college
I couldn't get the college hostel in first or second or the third year

Course Curriculum Overview

Far little time is given for the semester.Exams comes fast but the results take forever. They are teaching basics of every field of engineering in first year but there is no evaluation is done to determine which field this student is doing well and make way for them to change the course

Fees and Financial Aid

I studied in an Government engineering College so the fees were not high nor does they hike up during my time of study . I was not eligible for any scholarships so I don't know about that but my friends do get the benefits of scholarships.The college fees is about 15000

Campus Life

My college life was during covid period so I couldn't properly make use of it how ever I was part of social clubs like National service scheme NSS and college does have sports program but I was not very good at it

Hostel Facilities

The hostel facility are good light and fans were working condition, Bathroom and toilet were clean and in working condition and hostel was not bad dinner was always the best part .the hostel also had a gym but there were no equipments for game basketball and volleyball court was there but no ball same for table tennis and carrom board

Hostel Fee: INR 4000 per year

Admission

In order to get admission in Government engineering Colleges students must attend an entrence exam called Keam.It is held as two parts one maths and other is physics and chemistry.The rank system is based on the entrance exam marks and our 12 grade marks.They have a website in which we can select the colleges we want to study select and order the college names in order of priority . The will conduct 3 allotments and the college the student will get admission is from the college listed in the last allotment. Admission process are conducted by the college

OUR COLLEGE LIFE

Placement Experience:

we are eligible for placement from the 7th sem. Many famous and small compines vist our college. Infosys, WIPRO, TCS vist our college. But the big companies take only few student. Highest package was 1,00,000. And the average package is around 4,00,000. Almost all students gets placed from the campus .

My Experience at NIT Calicut

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the EEE course curriculum around 8-8.5 /10 in terms of relevance.The curriculum provides strong fundamentals in core electrical engineering subjects and prepares students well for core jobs and higher studies.The course curriculum was revised in 2023, and our batch is the 1st batch under the new curriculum. however, there are still limited coding ,AI and data science subjects in EEE ,which could be improved. Exams are conducted times per semester and are generally moderately difficult.

Course Curriculum Overview:

the course curriculum is lakhs relevance to modern industry demands. while it covers the basics there is minimum focus on practical skills emerging technologies and real world applications overall, the courses not comprehensive enough.

Is engineering here worth it?

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible from 7th semester to sit for interviews. The pod.ai app helps us in making the resume and calculating a cgpa to appear for the intwrviews. The pod.ai registration fees is 500?. Companies such as nissan,infosys,commandtech,bimlabs,gulfasia etc has visited . And the highest package was 11 LPA and lowest was 3 LPA

Remarks:

If you want to be in a controlled environment, focus on academics, make use of some good placement opportunities, and get somewhere career-wise I would be suggesting Amrita University.

An honest review of GCE KANNUR by a student

The college is merit based admission college, to get admission in this college you have to write an entrance exam which is KEAM and I have a rank of 16000 in KEAM So the college I first confirmed admission was GEC Kozhikode which was a good college but the campus was too small so there was a spot admission which was held by GCE kannur and I applied for it The admission process is managed by KEAM they give you a date to take admission and the process gets done in 2hrs you have to be physically present with your parents , The overall admission experience was smooth and well managed by the faculties...Read More
