- The professors were quite friendly and helpful apart from the very few.
- The campus is quite big as compared to the other colleges of Kolkata.
- There is canteen facility, sports, well equipped labs among many other facilities.
Dislikes
- The hostel facility is provided only for the freshers and that too is not located inside the college campus.
- There is bit of favouritism towards the bengali students.
- Fests and other cultural fests are not held regularly.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course and curriculum is followed which is set up by the university (Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology) though it is an autonomous college. But the question papers are set up the college faculty and are examined by them only. There are two unit tests and one semester exam for each semester.
Placement Experience
The placement for the college is good. In my batch, almost all the student were placed with an average package of 4 lpa. This is for Mechanical Engineering. The package goes much higher for the Computer Engineering students with an average package of around 7-8 lpa.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure is quite budget friendly and affordable as compared to the other colleges of Odisha and Bangalore. My entire tuition fees was around 3.6 lac. Scholarships are also provided but only to those students are the local residents of West Bengal. Also, the scholarship is provided by the state government or other charitable trusts and not by the college.
Campus Life
There is a lack of campus life as there are no hostel for the boys in the college campus. But there are many clubs and social groups like Rotaract clubs in the college. Many fun and engaging activities are conducted by these clubs on regular intervals
Hostel Facilities
As I mentioned earlier, hostel is only provided for the girls within the college campus and for Ist Year boys (which is outside the college campus). The food quality is good and is provided 4 times including snacks during the evening time. The locality nearby the college like RR Plot and Husseinpur is good for renting PGs and flats.
Admission
The admission process took place in a phase-wise manner. First of all, one has to appear for the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations. Then you have to register for the online seat allocation process and you get the college and branch as per your ranks. Then you move forward and take admission in the respective colleges.
Faculty
The faculty-to-student ratio is slightly more than the average, but they are quite helpful and friendly with the students. One can interact with them during anytime of the college hours. They'll surely be willing to resolve your doubts and queries. They now teach using the smart boards rather on the traditional boards.
