Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Course curriculum was above par , considering other colleges but somewhere the intent for acquiring skills felt lacking. Theoretical part was spot on , and practical part too , to some extent. But few things regarding the hands on experience were missing. And by the end of graduation we feel a bit under-skilled with respect to what is expected from us at this age. Our chances to get picked for internships have reduced somewhat because of the few skills we lack and these are the same skills which students of other colleges acquire during their graduation. This gives them an upper hand above us and I believe the college can look into this aspect to make sure that it's student don't lack anywhere and are prepared well for their endeavours outside the college. So unfair ! If by mistake ,a student is marked absent for an exam ,the college would never rectify the error in one go. Firstly it's their mistake, but still the students have to waste their time to make several visits to solve it.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees was reasonable however they could have offered a bit more for what we paid , but nothing major enough to complain about. Fees was justified I believe. Hikes too weren't unreasonable. The complete cost of my education would be roughly around 1 lakh rupees for 3 years as I was not eligible for any scholarships. Almost all scholarships and freeships that are there , were available in the college for students

Campus Life

2

Annual festivals were fine. Library was very good, something that I liked a lot about the college was it's well equipped library. Facilities and technological provisions within classrooms can be improved as it was equally difficult for teachers as well as students. Most of the activities was academia related which made it quite boring and saturating because we already are learning in the curriculum. Sports was very disappointing, we weren't allowed to play sports even during playing times which is already insufficient. 3-5 PM for all students. We were often denied sports equipment and were also not allowed to bring our own. Then how are we supposed to play? We were told to play sports only if we are representing college. If such is the discouragement how do they expect students to develop overall and have a good experience in college. Sports was absolutely disappointing, lack of infrastructure, lack of support, bias towards students representing college in sports......list goes on

Admission

The entire admission process was hassle free and very convenient since everything was online. Not once did I have to visit the college for any admission related work. Application forms and all other details are easy to locate on their website. Their website too has improved quite significantly recently. Frequency and timings of exams were fine. Sometimes we would have exams in hot summer afternoons which was tedious for us. Considering how high temperatures are in 1-4 PM time slot and that too during summers ! Areas of improvement - prevention of technical errors which is from college's side. When we as students visit the concerned department to bring those errors to their notice, they cross question is as if we are the ones who made the mistake. It was never in our hands then what gives them the right to question us ? Instead you look into what you have done and rectify the error. We are made to run one department to other for no fault of our own. Again very unfair!

Faculty

4.5

Faculty to student ratio was appropriate , it didn't have any negative impact on the learning experience as teachers were very encouraging towards everybody and weren't biased in any sense. Every teacher had their own way of teaching but all in all , all of them did it quite passionately and professionally. For few instances such as giving marks for assignments or tests , some bias could be seen at times where it felt like marks are being given on the basis of who the student is and how well it fits the teacher's expectations. A student can be 100% correct with all concepts clear and still won't get the deserved marks just because it wouldn't fit the teacher's expectations. I believe that can be looked upon and improvised. But over-all teachers were very good in what they did and we always felt comfortable and welcomed to approach them whenever we wanted. They were very helpful in giving us advices and guidances and always made us feel at home

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose Biotechnology because it is a multidisciplinary field. We get to study not only topics related to biotechnology but also biochemistry, bio physics, bio informatics, bio statistics, etc. Mostly everything that is essential for future exams is taught during the span of 3 years. The topics of the units are taught in depth but the questions asked during exams are comparatively easy as to what all we studied. The frequency of the exam is, 1 internal exam which consists of both mcqs and written exam, the semester exam for each semester and practical exams for each subject. If u have studied then you will be able to attempt the questions.

Placement Experience:

My college gives campus placement placement opportunities typically after 4th semester, which is the 2nd half of the 2nd year. As my college has a partnership with IBM so the standards of campus placement go right up as the placement depends on the curriculum performance of the student so can't really say much for this. If saying as a stalemate, getting a placement is basically confirmed if the student maintains his/her CGPA of 6-7, which shows the consistent of the student in their field.
