Course Curriculum Overview

4

While initially the students were appalled at learning Physics, Chemistry, and Maths in the first year, we discovered that these subjects are taught in all universities and engineering programs around the world, in US and Europe, so there wasn't a problem later. It did feel like the course delayed our expectations for learning C and DSA, but if everyone in the world is doing it, it must be right. The C and DSA courses could still have been accelerated a little bit so we had more time to do those. Also, there should have been a strong focus on Discrete Structures and Graph Theory. I think there can be more use of tools like the Projector, but especially using tools like Excalidraw, Geogebra, and other fun tools online to play around with and show students how it actually worked. The exams were spaced at adequate intervals, however, it prevented 3-month internships. Not directly, but through the Projects (part of the syllabus).

Placement Experience

2

Students are eligible for placements in year 4. There is no provision for College-provided internships in any year prior. There are no attendance benefits for internships. The companies visited include Godrej and Boyce, SBI, Sankey Solutions, Capgemini (females), Hexaware, Deloitte, Jio CX, QUASTECH, Turing, and QubeHealth, TCS general drive (NQT), Sutherland, ExcelR and Jio Haptik. One would say about 40% of students got placed. I am still waiting for the results of Turing and QubeHealth drives. The highest package received is for a Sales job (6.18 LPA, Hike education)

Fees and Financial Aid

Tution fee seems to remain the same. Initially, you pay 120000 + 10000 as a security deposit. Then it is 120000 for each year. The total cost of education (fees only) is about 490000. The dorms (hostel) have more charge, upto 100000. One can get scholarships from the government, but the college itself has no scholarships. The procedure is similar to any college affiliated with Mumbai University. There is no salary awarded for participating in college clubs or committees.

Campus Life

3

Both the Avalon Committee and E-cell committee hold their respective Hackathons. They are held in March-April, sometimes starting in February. Even semesters will always be hectic and one might not get enough time to study. I participated in two of the hackathons, it was generally a nice experience, however, the ventilation and food could use improvement. Other events include SportTEC, the sports championship including several sports like Volleyball, Kabaddi, Cricket, etc. There are mini cups for each event and an overall performance Cup too. There are other events like Scribble Day, Traditional Day, Gang Day, Bollywood Day, etc. Which makes life enjoyable. There are also Marathi-specific events by Antarang Committee like Dhol and other events like Lezim. Most classrooms have a projector but not all teachers use them. Only one classroom has an AC inside it. Most labs have AC inside them. Most PCs inside labs run, but sometimes they might not run/not have the correct software.

Admission

The admission process was completely online and was based on JEE and CET marks. It was relatively simple. The cutoff for good colleges is very high. I didn't have any reservation benefits, but people can reduce their fees up to 5600, in some cases. The exams are general CET and JEE exams.

Faculty

3

The faculty-to-student ratio was amazing in the first few years but then dropped off sharply. We rarely saw the same teachers again. It seemed like a lot of teachers were leaving or were being transferred. The experience was such that it was a negative slope graph of a number of teachers vs year. We didn't even have a lecturer for Blockchain in the Semester 7th part of the year. As mentioned before, some of the faculty were amazing and were from CERN, IIT, and other reputed institutions. Those were really key in shaping the basics. However, also as mentioned before, the mismanagement by upper management caused the wrong expertise to be allocated to the wrong subject, which caused difficulties. The teachers themselves were very approachable.

In Kit college their are some rules for placement drive. In 7th sem companies started to visit our college. During my placement my engineering percentage is around 70 and I am able to attend every drive. Once student get placement offer from one company that student is not allowed to apply next company which package is near to previous company. Placement in Kit college in my year is 70 to 75%. The unplaced students have decided to go for MS.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because I have genuine interest in civil engineering. The faculty student ration is 1:50. Our faculties are well qualified they are master's degree holders in design and structural engineering. Some of them are PhD holders and many of them have done their master's from NIT and IIT. Term exams are scheduled after every 2 months. it is easy to pass because it consists of 30 marks only.

I'm choosing this course because I'm interested in programming languages. Faculty members here are at the best level. They are very supportive and knowledgeable. They made lectures most interactive. All faculty members are well-qualified and experienced. The course is very vast but the teaching faculty cover it through their extra lectures and practicals.
