Likes
- Focus on CSE/IT students are given strongly and they are provided with much better faculty as i have seen till now
- Socialization is good here, no ragging is seen, seniors are very good, friendly and helpful
- Placement is more or less okay. Not too high not too low. Students who are really focused will definitely crack it.
Dislikes
- Streams other than CSE/IT are not given so much importance and are overlooked.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is pretty good. It has various subjects as needed for a CSE student. It is up to date. However, the teaching methods have major flaws due to which students often don't understand what is even going on. I am currently a 2nd-year student and have seen that this is the reason 60% of students have at least a backlog in 1 subject till now.
Internships Opportunities
Internship opportunities have been available since 4th sem generally. Courses on updated nowadays fields like Android Development, Data science and machine learning, IoT, AWS etc are provided. Its very necessary as it helps to upskill your knowledge and helps in placements too
Placement Experience
Campus placement opportunities are available after the 6th sem. Wipro, Infosys, and TCS are some of the main companies that do mass recruitment. The highest package of around 16 lakhs. For me, i planning to upskill myself in coding for better placements and get a job.
Fees and Financial Aid
I am a 2nd-year student. I had to pay a total of 5.5 Lakhs in my term. But the total fees have increased to approx 6.3 lakhs now in our college. No financial aid or scholarships are provided directly from the college. But you can apply for SVMCM scholarship given by the government.
Campus Life
Campus life is good. There are many fests and socializing is pretty easy. The annual cultural fest like Anakhronas is very popular. Books are generally not given according to your will. When a new semester begins you are provided with books for all subjects in that sem(books are fixed by college you can't choose) many clubs help to socialise and improve your skills.
Admission
You can apply through wbjee and jee mains in this college. For CSE there is a cut-off of approximately 6000 in wbjee. And other streams the cutoff can be as high as 40k in wbjee . But there is the availability of management quota(direct admission), through which students having a rank of 70k got admission. The timing of wbjee is around April. Admission process is very hectic due to improper and unprofessional management system
Faculty
The faculty-to-student ratio is no doubt good. We have enough teachers. But I doubt how many good teachers we have. 40% of the teachers are good and hold good knowledge and teaching skills. But most of the teachers are very reluctant and unprofessional. Their behaviour towards students demotivates us.
