Course Curriculum Overview

4

I personally decided to acquie this field as all my friend were doing the same but today I can say that BCom is not neccesary for higher studies in commerce stream. As the curriculum suggest we has accouts, cost account , tax, financial account , managment account and we need them in our daily basis so now we know what were are we doing in our day to day life. Subjects like tax and cost account is used by everyone. Their are definetely areas of improvement as I remember tnat we learnt all the previous tax system and book keeping which is of no use also the teaching method were old schooled which made us bore and some even felt asleep! Exams were held at the end of every semester and they were pretty easy as everyone scored more than 8 cgpa but I reckon the question paper level was n?t good enought to test the students knowledge.

Fees and Financial Aid

During my course i paid around 20000 including book and tuition fee even today the fee remained the same. the tuition fee was as low as Rs 100 per month and their were no such issues of hike and irregularity. Since the fee amount is pretty low so every family could afford it still their are concession features available and being a girl college they themselves urge and assist everyone to get the kanyashree schlorship of Rs 25000 from the government of west bengal . Several schlorship camp were held regarding girls only schlorship.I personally got kanyashree that time, though I did not know about this but the teachers helped me get that. Well our college did not provide any placement or internship. They simply gave us the degree and now we would run to Calcutta University(were the college was affliated ) and ask for job opportunity

Campus Life

3

Well there are no grand fest in our college but we do had freshers and farewell party. There is an restricted supply of books in our library though one can borrow it for an entire year, but for that you have own a library card which is not free. There are no scintillating technolgies in our college. Our clasroom had fans with plastered walls and only touch of technology was the one water cooler. Being a girls colllege number outdoor sporting activities were less and aloso we did not had our own ground. Extra curricualr activities consists of badminton which we played in the canteen area on the terace and other board games. We had a student council in our college which was selected by the teaching staff , they acted as median of conversation between student and principle but moreover they did not do their job so student communicated directly to the teachers present the campus

Admission

The admission process was smooth and frustating at the same time. Everyone who passed their higher secondry in commerce field were eligible for admission. We need to personally collect admission form from college which cost around Rs 200 and these college have a period of atleast 3 month after higher secondry result declaration for admission. The admission fee was Rs10000 for this course and alter as we change to other courses. The reservation benefits were restricted only to fee concession as the reserved category paid less fee.No category wise admission were there. There was no such entrance exam required for this as admission were open after the admission window is closed.

Faculty

3.5

They were highly qualified in their respectible subject . They were attentive in their classes and maintain discipline amongst students. But the teaching staff was syllabus completion driven so sometimes students were not able to comprehend the topic and seek for external aid such as private tuitions. the faculty to student ratio was poor as their were 3-4 teacher per 100 student but the teachers were ready to help student off campus as well. The teachers were not arrogant toward student and assist them in all situations. Though they were highly qualified in their subject yet they are pretty old so the knowledge gap between new topics and old topics is visible as the were not as effective in new topic as they were in old topic

Placement Experience:

Placements were not there earlier. But our batch was the first one to get placement at St Joseph's College Darjeeling. To be honest It is not a college you should target if you are looking for placement. The companies were too small . The roles are way to entry level . Highest placement was around 40000 per month but it was an inside sales role so many opt out. There is not official data about placement . My plan was to look for off campus jobs.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose the course the b.com because I want to become the CA but after completing the graduation my family condition was not very good so I quit my studies and searching for the job. My dream was after B.com then I complete M.com then CA but I couldn't do that. I'm pursuing because I'm interested in understanding how businesses work and want a solid foundation in commerce and finance. It opens up various career paths in accounting, finance, management, and more. Plus, it's a versatile degree that can lead to professional certifications like CA, CS, or MBA.
