Seth Soorajmull Jalan Girls College has a good reputation under Calcutta University for Bcom hons ... The exams taken are moderately set... Which helps us to apply all the things we've learned at class and project works are also given for a few subjects.. Bcom being a theoretical course any skill or real life practice such as commercial industrial vist via college is not yet done .. introducing online lectures for theory subjects would be little more helpful

As I am in 1st year yet so as of now I have seen two internship options from BSE bombay stock exchange which has a charges of 5000 rupees and we have to visit the office of theirs where we can learn more things of stocks bonds and such programmes ... Transportation and food is also not a part of this internship program students have to look at this by themselves ....

My per semester fees which is 6 months each sem is 6170 .... Annual sports function is done usually in the month of January and all other cultural fests take place on the college campus ... Saraswati Puja , freshers and farewell are prominent events ... College also takes part in other inter college fests... Social group or college club is not practiced .. students are given authorities at level of general and cultural heads ... NCC facility is also provided... Option for learning dance at college campus is also given to 1st and 3rd semester students..

The admission process under Calcutta University is carried out via wb portal in which you can apply for all the interested colleges and you get alloted in any one of them as per your marks and other criteria .. Getting into Jalan was my 3rd prefered college other than this I had appeared for Cuet but I couldn't pursue my degree there because of my parents as they don't consider Delhi a safe option... Then I had options to go to private colleges under CU but pursuing bcom in any private colleges or government college doesn't really make any difference so I selected Jalan college ... It was also prefered as it is all girls college

Faculty members are quite experienced and follow a strict teaching methods . They also provide notes ..for each subject there are 2 teachers ... The HODs are also very approachable.. The examination is carried out on internal and external exam method for major subjects its 100 marks 25 taken at college centre and 75 at University level there are other other subjects like ENVS , CVAC which have a 50 marks paper ... Syllabus for these examinations are covered within time..

As JALAN has only one shift which is morning batch and it gets over maximum by 1 pm or 2 pm so no night life is there and it doesn't promote any ... Canteen is there with affordable food options and outside of the campus there's COFFEE house and a park nearby where students generally hang out with friends as college is located in a good area called college street or bankim chatterjee street there is option to go nearby cafes and restaurants.... The college also has a library and a reading room where children's are allowed within the college timings
