- The teachers bring quite a lot of experience and knowledge into the minds of students and guide them towards their goals
Dislikes
- The fee is ridiculously high for a college located in east India for the chosen course when other colleges with similar average package
Course Curriculum Overview
The main reason to choose this course was the market demand and the money to be earned. Although I've just completed the first year, I do not think I've learned anything yet that is going to be useful for me in the upcoming years. Most of the courses are made to keep the students occupied throughout the day and tests the memory of the students rather than testing their capabilities. Courses that have been designed 10-20 years ago are still being carried without any upgrades in the curriculum despite of the change in demands in the market. Lab classes are conducted for no reason at all just to justify the existence of the labs.
Placement Experience
. Companies start visiting the campus from third year taking the cream of the crop for prices unfair to both the college and the students. Those which are left make their way to placements giving interviews and tests for various companies visiting the campus during their final year of college. The packages start at 2 lakhs per annum and range upto 20 to 25 lakhs per annum but sometimes a few students manage to acheive what most cannot and bring home a whopping huge package of above 50 lakhs like the highest earner who recieved a package of 62 lakhs per annum last year. The placement rate is quite high considering the number of students in the college with almost 40% of them being placed before the end of their college life. The median package is around 7 lakhs which is not bad.
Fees and Financial Aid
The tuition fee is ridiculously high that is around 20 to 25 lakhs depending on the choice of hostel. The top rankers upto 100 in each batch are provided a scholarship of 50,000 per semester making it a total of 4 lakhs for the entire course if the students maintain their ranks which is but a fraction of their course fee. Besides this, scholarship is granted at the time of admission based on the rank acheived by the student in the KIITEEE examination conducted for admission of the students in this university. The fee is divided between tuition, hostel, mess and various other charges which on paper might look little but add up to a lot more.
Campus Life
2 to 3 fests are conducted on the campus throughout the year, namely KIITfest, MUN and other small fests organized by different departments throughout the campus organising various competitions and contests around these fests. Student run groups or clubs including various activities and projects to inculcate skills and values among the active participants. Among the extra curricular activities, sports and cultural activities are also promoted to ensure the social well being and promotion of skillset of the students
Hostel Facilities
The living space in the hostels is overcrowded usually accommodating 3 students per room making performing daily activities hectic and stressful mostly. Along with the hostel conundrum, the mess facilities can also be disappointing most times by providing meals not up to the eating standards and also causing students to fall sick and be hospitalised which poses a life threat at times. Apart from these facilities, a laundry facility is also provided by the hostel but on very limited days and it is usually overcrowded due to poor management of the laundry schedule.
Admission
The admission process was very easy as the college admission department is quite smart in planning. The KIITEEE admission test was free of cost and conducted in almost all the major towns and cities across the nation availing the opportunity to take admissions for anyone and everyone. The examination was conducted in three phases from May to July which decide the rank and course availability for the students. The examination consists of three parts that is physics, chemistry and mathematics. For each correct answer 4 marks are awarded and for each incorrect answer 1 marks is deducted. For any unattempted question, no marks are awarded. JEE Mains rank is also considered a criteria for admission and scholarship is provided subjectively. Despite the allocated course, if a student wishes to upgrade their course, they can do so by paying a little more around 2 lakhs on top of the admission and course fee. There are reservations like any other exams in the country harbouring inequality.
Faculty
Every classroom consists of 80 students and is provided two mentors from among their subject teachers who are always ready to help the students whenever they need. The subject teachers create various WhatsApp and classroom groups to foster and encourage group discussions among the students and help solve their doubts whenever possible. Besides teaching the course points, the teachers also help students with whatever else they need outside of their courses. The teachers reside on campus from 8'O clock in the morning till 7 in the evening and can be found in their various cabins
