- As it's an IIT, you will find the best peer group you could ever imagine.
- Workshops, competitions and what not, you will enjoy everything. SF and KTJ are top notch fests.
Dislikes
- Early morning classes, which are from 8 am.
- Not so great mess food in some halls which is really problematic.
- It's a bit hard to adjust in the competative environment.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course is highly flexible in nature, you can study almost everything you want alongside your major by opting for breadth elective or additional. The Engineering courses are really good although the papers are on the harder side.
Internships Opportunities
Internship opportunities here are as good as placement opportunities. prefinal year students are provided with as compulsory internship in any field they want ( they need to acquire sufficient skill).
Placement Experience
Campus placements are brilliant highest packages go above 1cr but median packages lie around 16-18 LPA. Some of the departments have nearly 100% placement some have a little less which is around 70-80%.
Fees and Financial Aid
The total fees per semester is about 1.5 Lakh and it's compulsory to stay inside the campus i.e in the halls also one can get financial assistance based on their family income as the fees is very high other than that it's preety easy to get scholarship.
Campus Life
That's the best part of IIT Kharagpur the social life is top notch. A huge campus will never disappoint you as this provides opportunities to hangout in different places. Clubs are really good here although getting in is tough.
Hostel Facilities
Rooms are really good and hygiene is maintained properly although the mess food is not that great. It's compulsory to stay in the hostel you can't rent a room or PG outside the campus it's mainly because of the timetable of the classes and exams.
Admission
You've to Qualify JEE ADVANCED to get into IIT Kharagpur. For Chemical Engineering you need a rank < 6000 in the exam. It's not an easy exam out of 1200000 JEE main Test takers only 8000 get an good IIT.
Faculty
Currently IIT Kharagpur have a faculty to student ratio of 1:21. The Faculty members Are really good as they are great researchers in their respective fields. Most of them are highly approachable and you can easily interact with them.
