- The location of IIT Roorkee is in Uttarakhand which is suitable for exploring many beautiful places like Rishikesh, Mussoorie. These 4 years will be of exploring everything.
- Getting admission in IIT will surely increases chances of becoming success full in life. The peer group around you will motivate you to learn different skills.
- The free time you get after completing each semester(2 month after even semester and 1 month after odd semester) will provide you ample time to prepare for placements.
Dislikes
- Sometimes, the peer pressure around you makes you stressful. You will feel fear of missing out at some point of time.
- The academic pressure is also there. You have to give 2 exams in a single day continously for 3-4 days.
- Although placement at iit roorkee is good but some lower branches find placement difficultly
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum of many subjects focuses on rote learning. You just need to learn the things written in ppts except for some subjects like maths, physics, dsa etc. There are 7 subjects each semester some of them have practicals which are good subjects. But there are 2-3 subjects each semester which are theoretical in nature.
Internships Opportunities
Many companies come for internship in 3rd year for various profile like consultancy, design, software, data analyst, etc.Companies like Microsoft, google, amazon also provide also pre placement offer to some skillful students.You also get stipend during intern season.
Placement Experience
After completing 7th semester you will be eligible for placement season which starts from 1 dec every year. Over 300+ companies visits campus. Top companies like google facebook microsoft amazon also visit campus.Highest package goes over 2 cr internationally and 1.25 cr domestically. average package is around 18 lpa.More than 90% stuudents able to find a job and some go for higher studies.
Fees and Financial Aid
First one is Tution Fee waiver which is given to students whose family annual income is less than 5 lpa. The students who have less than 1 lpa family income gets full fee waiver. the students who have less than 5 lpa family income gets 2/3 fee waiver on tuition fees. MCM Scholarship is given to students who have family income less than 5 lpa and atleast have 7.00 cgpa and also in top 25% students in respective branch. he/she will be awarded 10k per year if he/she maintains a decent cgpa.
Campus Life
Exposure in IIT is very good. Thomso(annual cultural fest) and cogni(technical fest) are two biggest fest across india. IIT roorkee have all sports facilities having seperate grounds for each sports like cricket, hockey, football. Also there is swimming pool + squash+ tennis+taekwando. Every sport has a coach which are highly experienced.MGCL library contains more than 2.5 lakh books covering all journals.IIT Roorkee have 61 clubs in total .
Hostel Facilities
Every room contains a bed, almirah, light, fan, studytable, chair.Rent for room is 5k per semester+2.5k for electricity. Every students need to have a hostel room. No one go for pg. Mess fees is 20k per semester and the food quality is also good. You will get milk, fruits every day.
Admission
You have to give Jee mains followed by jee advanced. Then through jossa counselling you will get seat in different branches of iit roorkee. For B.Arch you also have to give AAT exam after jee advanced.Jee advanced is conducted every year once. Some categories like ews, obc, sc, st will get seat easily because seats are reserved for them.
Faculty
faculty:student ratio is 1:20 .The proffessor at IITs are very educated having lots of degree. They have done their phd's from good university from abroad. But their teaching skills are not that good. Most of faculty instead of using blackboard uses ppts which are inefficient. But you can interact with faculty and asks qustion. The faculty provides the answer for given answer.
