Course Curriculum Overview
Course is quite good. This course is of 5 year. With B.tech you'll get M tech degree too. The syllbaus of 1st year is not good you will study about every type of engineering in 1st year which is not necessary because you have optef computer science which i find totally irrelevant.
Internships Opportunities
Students from any year can apply for internships. Basically there are two types of internships that are summer and winter. Students gets interships based on their skills. Students from 2nd and 3rd year are most likely to get an internship. Students who want an internship should hone their skills and try to do as many projects they can do.
Placement Experience
The campus Placements from computer science department is quite good. Almost more than 80%+ students gets placed every year with an average package of 10 lakhs approx. students can opt for placement in their final year or 3rd year. For internship students can opt from any year.My plans after getting this degree is to get a placement or to go for doing higher education (PhD).
Fees and Financial Aid
The tution fee for general category is approx. 83000 ( hostel fee not included) for Ews it is approx between 21000 to 75000 and for sc/st it is 21000. Students get fee concession on the basis of their family income. The fee structure is quite good. For hostel even semester fee is 35000 and for odd semester it is 25200 rs only.There is no employment your can take in college campus.
Campus Life
The club culture of nit Hamirpur if very good. There are clubs like dance club, music club, gaming club etc. There are also many departmental clubs like computer science department club(named as .exe). Electronics club(named as vibhav). there are department clubs of every branch here.There are many sports event here that includes tournaments of cricket, volleyball, badminton, table tennis,lawn tennis etc. between clubs and different departments. New lecture halls have proper ac in every rooms in old lecture halls there are 5 6 fans in each rooms. Lecture halls are quite good and big.
Hostel Facilities
For 1st 2nd and 3rd year boys hostel rooms are basically 3 or 4 seaters. For final year there are single rooms. Each room has 3 fans 3 beds and 3 tables and chairs. For each floor there are common bathrooms. There are five blocks (A B C D E) in 1st year boys hostel. In my opinion B block is the cleanest as it is close to wardens office. After your seat is allocated in jossa or csab. At the time of offline registration you get into the campus at that time the hostel allocation takes place. rooms are given on yhe basis of 1st come and 1st serve basis for 1st year students. Breakfast and lunch is quite good as compared to dinner. Dinner is not that good some days.
Admission
For getting admission in this course you have to clear jee mains. For general if from other state(for getting dual cs mtech+btech) you have to get above 98.7%ile. If you are from Himachal Pradesh you have to get more than96.9%ile approx. For sc other state(94%ile +) In state(92%ile+). For St other state (92%ile+) in state (89%ile+). You'll get admission through jossa and csab counseling.
Faculty
The class os approximate of 80 to 90 students . Classes are being organised in big halls. Teacher to student ratio is obviously not good.The teaching is also not up to the mark. some teacher teach with passion and some do formality.
Interview Experience
There are no Group discussions or interview for admission.You can get a seat in National institute of technology hamirpur on the basis of your Jee mains score. For different categories the cutoff for this college is different. which i have discussed earlier.
