Life at NSEC - CSE Stream

The college is lacking behind on a number of topics and this need to be fixed quickly. Quality of classrooms, labs need to be improved. We need a good campus, playground, canteen , auditorium, medical facilities as well.

This college is the first private college of West Bengal (estd. 1998) and is ranked among top 10 engineering colleges of the state. People used to compare this college with Jadavpur University , IIEST etc. as most of the faculties belong to premiere institutes. During my 4 year course, I completely relied on the teachers and never went for any other tuition classes.

There is a balanced course as we read about 40 subject in 4 years including Economics and Principles of Management as well. For Compter Science stream, there are various core subjects that are necessary for building a strong base. But,the syllabus is too outdated and needs to be updated in regular intervals.

Around 1-2 companies like Ixia, Johnson Controls come every year for internships. People who are selected as interns will be paid around Rs. 15000 per month and also get an opportunity to start learning the concepts of IT industries.

The college is not so good in terms of placement as only IT firms like TCS, Capgemini, CTS, Mindtree etc.came here. Overall placement ranges between 33-50 %. In CSE stream, about 70-100 students get recruited every year out of 150. But the placements of core streams are very poor as no core companies come to this college.

There are 2 types of fest occur every year: Tech Fest and Cultural fest.In tech fest, various technical and analytical events are organised which is a platform for showcasing innovation. In cultural fest, various dance and singing perfomances are carried out.

The fee structure of our college is quuite feasible as around Rs. 40000-45000 is charged for every semester. This includes college annual fee , tuition fee and college maintenance fee as well. So, for a 4 year B.tech degree course, total expenses will be about Rs. 3.5 lakhs.

There is no scholarship scheme sponsored by our college. Our college has tied up with Punjab National Bank which will support students during their curriculum by providing loans so that their studies are not hampered.

My campus life was good and I enjoyed a lot. Gender ratio is also fine. We have cricket and football tournaments that occur every year. Also, debates, speech , robotics , indoor games and other events are being carried out at regular intervals of time.

There is no hostel or mess facilities at our college and these two things are the biggest drawbacks of our college. For both the facilities, we have rely on the local people. Also, the PG are too costly and at the same time no so good as well. The food is pathetic at PG.

Currently every year we celebrate Alumni day where seniors of every year come to celebrate this day. I got enormous help from my senior. Their guidelines proved to be very much positive for me.

The practical exams are good and conducted in a fair way. The questions need innovation to answer them. We need to complete it in 3 hours. The theory exams are pathetic as the same previous questions comes every year due to which people only learn them and thereby score well too.

Firstly we need to apply for WBJEE which is conducted in 2nd week of April every year. It publishes a final ranking based on the exam in June. Then during counseling, we need to fill our college and stream choices online. Final round of counseling allots person a college when his rank is under the college cut off. Then we need to report to the college for completing the admission formalities.

My college has a long list of reputed and proficient faculties who are always ready to help you even a day before the exams. They will keep on trying till the concept is not cleared.Also, the syllabus gets finished by them in time. We have various labs to improve the performance of students.
