Remarks

The university is very good in terms of quality of education and opportunities provided but lacks infrastructure, The Islamic University of Science & Technology is a government university located at Awantipora, Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir. The university has been set up as a centre for higher learning for the people of the Jammu and Kashmir State and its neighbouring regions. Islamic University of Science and Technology is recognised by the UGC and AICTE and is a member of AIU.

Entrance Preview

The region of kashmir only does not have many engineering colleges with this college being ranked 2nd after NIT srinagar. Which I could not get admission in. This was a clear choice as i had passion for engineering and going out of the state was not an option for me This was the right choice for me and with getting admissions easily i chose to stick with the university

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Civil engineering in my Islamic University of Science and Technology is the mostly preferred course among all the courses because of its good curriculum the first year subjects include the basic courses and are common to all engineering disciplines comprising of PHYSICS(1and2), Chemistry(1and2) Mathematics(1&2), Environmental studies, Basic Electrical Engineering, Basic Electronic and Communication engineering Basic Civil and Basic computer science engineering. With second year the main civil engineering courses start which within three years cover each and every aspect of the said engineering and with punctual laboratories right from the 1st year it is made sure that the students understand the concepts clearly and with regular camps students are given more field exposure but workshops are not that frequent. The university provides a lot of electives mainly inter department electives are given preferences which include Matlab, Basic Mechanical engineering, Gender perspective and Management, English literature, Arabic language, Disaster Management

Internships Opportunities

No the university does not provide any internships. But they do make arrangements for their students who want to do internships

Placement Experience

2.5

The in campus placement of the college are not that good. Only a few companies like Jio, Hope visit and the no. Of selected students is quite low with packages varying from 3 lac to 8 lack per annum. However a lot of the students are able to crack the public service examination

College Events

4

The college celebrates many events most of which are cultural events The events held are 1 Dance (which include Group Dance Solo Dance Western Dance Classical Dance Folk Dance Tribal Dance Traditional Dance Couple Dance Indian Dance) 2. Drama (Natak Street Play Theatre) 3. Designing (CAD Designing Dress Designing Web Designing Bridge Designing Circuit Designing UAV Designing PLC Designing Graphical Designing) Some technical events held are 1. Coding Street Coding Reverse Coding Dazzle Coding Blind Coding 2. Programming Python Programming C Programming Java Programming Labview Programming 3. Exhibitions Model Exhibition Project Exhibition Photo Exhibition Science Exhibition Innovative Exhibition The cultural events and few technical can be participated by anyone by getting themselves registered.. But for the rest technical events only the experts are there

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure of the university is quite feasible the admission fee of a candidate selected through the merit list which is based on the scores of entrance examination held is just 2500 and the security deposit is of 2000 and the semester fees is of just 30000 per semester for an engineering course which is quite low as compared to other universities and the semester fees for other courses varies from 20000 to 30000 for other courses. The university hostel fees is also very low which is just 6500 per semester and the mess charges are 1900 per month for each student and the university bus fees varies from 5000 to 9000 per semester. However the student that get admission through NRI quota and Self financing category are supposed to pay extra for admissions which may vary from 450000 Rs to 600000 Rs for different courses in NRI quota and 1.5 lakh to 2.5 lakh in self financing category.

Fees and Financial Aid

The scholarships offered by the University are not so much only 1 student from each course per batch gets a full tuition fee waiver but the university does pay for any online course you choose to apply and moreover they assist you to get a lot of scholarships provides by the government which include merit cum means and tribal affairs scholarship, labor Commission scholarships

Campus Life

2.5

The gender ratio is a bit of a concern as the no. Of male students is more than female students in almost all engineering courses but fir the rest of the courses the ratio is quite good . The labs are well maintained and well equipped. Sports competitions and extra curricular activities are also at par with the University holding continuous inter department tournaments and as well as providing the students chances to play at national level in inter University tournaments

Hostel Facilities

3.5

The hostel is of very grateful quality as compared to the hostel charges. The the hostel building is quite aesthetic but importantly it is always clean and well maintained. Each hostel room is accommodated by 3 students. The mess food is also quite good the taste is good and veg and non veg both kind of foods are served.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network of the University is quite good with various alumni groups being in contact with the university . The senior students are also very helpful

Exam Structure

The exams structure comprises of two exams per semester. Mid term exams and End term exams. The former taken in the middle of a semester and the later at the end each comprising of 30 and 50 marks and rest 20 marks are based on the class performance of the student (in which assignments attendance behaviour attentiveness of the student is taken into consideration and also these marks are given on ths basis of viva exams that the teacher can take anytime. However the lab exams only take place at the end of the semester

Admission

After the results of JEE Mains were announced, I applied for admissions in engineering courses in the university and waited a couple of weeks till the merit list was announced. My name was shortlisted for Electrons and Communication engineering (which was my 2nd preference first being civil engineering) and then I completed the formalities to secure my admission and later my branch got upgraded based on my merit and I got an admission in civil engineering.

Faculty

4

The faculty of the University are all well qualified though some may lack in experience but certainly no one lacks in qualification. The faculty consists of less permanent members and more contractuals but i think this makes them put in more effort to secure their place moreover the faculty also includes TEQIP III members which certainly adds to the quality of the education provided.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is quiet relevant it covers all the important subjects and topics.I chose the Ece branch as the demand of semiconductors is rising in the future. The curriculum perpares us well for real world applications. The course teaches us a lot of outdated concepts but it misses out to teach about what is happening in the world right now. So the course can involve a lot of topics that are in trend.

Placement Experience:

Placemets start right from your 7th semester. Most comapnies that would come here would be like vedanta , ashok leyland etc etc who mainly do mass hiring, th no of offers are quite low as for durig my time most companies qul do diversity and hiring would only select girls and the girls were low in numbers as compared to the boys so each girl recieved atleast 2-3 offers while rarely a boy would even rev=cieve a single offer. The highest package was offered by Vedanta but it was 13 lpa in ct in hand it would be arond 5-6 lpa , the average package was also the same around 5-6 lakhs per annum. Percentage of students placed would be around 30 percent but they inflated the numbers heavily but showing only the students who were eleigible as boys were mostle ineligible. My plans are to look for masters somewhere abroad.
