Course Curriculum Overview

3

This college followed a general KTU curriculum while I was a student there. It was pretty outdated but so was the case for most engineering colleges in Kerala. You get the basics but real-world applications are for you to learn. The frequency of examinations is okay I'd say. There are two internal exams every semester and that's about it.

Placement Experience

3.5

The placements are more than decent as you get many opportunities to land a job before graduation. Provided you don't have backpapers which most companies wouldn't want in their candidates. Service-based companies such as TCS and Accenture take loads of students per year and pretty high-end companies visit too.

Fees and Financial Aid

I got admission via a reservation so the scholarships weren't available for me. But I've known many friends who were able to avail great scholarship schemes. The average exam and semester registration cost would amount to roughly Rs 5000 per semester. There's an additional WiFi and arts and sports fee they collect even if we don't want the facilities.

Campus Life

3

There are two major campus activities every year namely Takshak (a tech fest) and Sanskriti (an art fest) in which most of the college (faculties and students) work together to make it happen very well. There are many clubs like fashion clubs, music clubs, dance clubs, film societies, etc. as well.

Admission

I got in via a management reservation seat. In my case, I just had to get minimum marks for the KEAM entrance exam. For general quota, you need to gain a rank as high as 1000-1200 to get admission to computer science.

Faculty

3

There's a teaching faculty for every 26 or so students which is a pretty healthy ratio. The faculty are generally very approachable but the quality of teaching is very much average. They're willing to help you out but the quality just isn't there. Some faculty have ego issues and take it out on students, some exploit students to get their work (on journal papers) done by them. These are pretty rare cases but I have heard of these and experienced them first hand too. But most faculty are generally very approachable.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the EEE course curriculum around 8-8.5 /10 in terms of relevance. The curriculum provides strong fundamentals in core electrical engineering subjects and prepares students well for core jobs and higher studies. The course curriculum was revised in 2023, and our batch is the 1st batch under the new curriculum. however, there are still limited coding ,AI and data science subjects in EEE ,which could be improved. Exams are conducted times per semester and are generally moderately difficult.
