Likes

Well maintained hostels with every facilities. Total of 22 halls so as to accommodate every person efficiently.
Seniors and profs are supportive. They are ready to help you anytime.
Classrooms are regularly cleaned and fully air conditioned.

Dislikes

You have to read on your own as profs do not repeat the things taught.
The weather condition is so bad here. In summer it becomes worse.
Society clubs are many . But you need to work hard to get into.

Course Curriculum Overview

In the first year you will have two semesters , physics (25 credit) and chemistry (24 credit) semesters. Before 2024 you had the option to change your department based on your CGPA in the first year.

Class Size: 100Course Fees: INR 300000 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

For a general category student in a B.Tech year , the fees is around 1.5 lakhs per semester. It includes mess and hostel charges , institute fees and etc. You get many scholarships here. They come on your erp.

Campus Life

There are many fests in IIT KGP. KSHITIJ- Asia's largest techno-management fest. SPRING FEST- This is also a very good fest of IIT KGP. Both of these take place in January. The Library of the college is very big. You have many partitions in it. There is a digital library also. Whole library is air conditioned. There are many clubs ans socities in iit kgp.

Admission

First of all for admission into iit in a B.Tech course , you need to qualify both jee mains and jee advance. Based on your rank you get the required course in a iit through josaa counselling. This whole process is about 1 month.

Faculty

All the faculty members here are higly qualified in their respective fields. Some of them are the alumni of this college only. They have a good knowledge about the courses. TA help the students in solving their tutorials.

Placement Experience:

I don't have idea about the placements since I'm in first year now. But I talked to a senior and got to know that many got multiple offers in 4th year. I also head that packages are around 4 lpa which is a decent and also a rise than the previous year.

The summary of my four years in one of the oldest colleges in India

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

It's my decision from class 12 that I will do civil engineering, so I chose the civil branch, the course curriculum is well and the teaching level is good but the main problem is lab, there is very limited classes for lab, so I think they should improve there.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
