Course Curriculum Overview
Electrical engineering course is considered to be the most difficult of all engineering courses,although some find it to be debatable. In the first year ,we had a course named electrical technology that most students struggled in that subject.Although this branch provides very good placement prospects.
Placement Experience
IIT KHARAGPUR offers very lucrative placements which is one of the reasons why students strive to take admission here.CSE ,ECE,MNC,EE are the branches with very high packages offered.Average package of all branches are in the range of 20-25 lakhs per annum.Detailed statistics cam be checked at Awaaz iitkgp's Instagram account and placement cell website.
Fees and Financial Aid
Considering costs,the overall fees for a general category student is approximately 150000 rupees per semester.The institute provides required and adequate fee remittances for students from relatively weak economic backgrounds.
Campus Life
IIT KHARAGPUR hosts two very important fests in the month of January.The technical fest named Kshitij and the cultural fest named Spring Fest.Students eagerly wait for their commencement.Also student community is very vibrant and you'll find all kinds of people here.Library has a huge collection of books and you can issue 5 at a time.Classrooms are modern and are equipped with projectors.Lots of clubs are run under Gymkhana.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels built in the campus are very old and not so modern.Students may not find the hostels very aesthetically pleasing.Rooms are mostly triple sharing for first and second year students.Rooms are equipped with basic facilities like bed frame,table, fans,tubelights etc.One water cooler for each wing/floor.
Admission
Admission process was very lengthy.You will have to create a profile in the institute's Erp website filling lots of details.Following this you will have to physically report to the college to get your documents verified.Always keep 3-4 copies of important documents to avoid any inconveniences.
Faculty
Six months semester syllabus is compressed and taught to students in four months, resulting in heavy academic load for students. Professors although highly qualified ,do not teach with passion and their main purpose seems to be finishing the syllabus on time.
