Remarks

First of all, there is a boot camp held every year and it is not like an outing. There are police trainers invited every year to a private property established in patnitop. They arrange adventure sport experience for students every year. Then there is the college fest every year plus numerous workshops. It is the most valued college in Jammu region and offers a vast array of courses. Also, the fee is affordable and the staff is nice. It was a 10 minute distance from my home as well. Apart from education, they have plenty of co curricular stuff from college festivals to boot camps. There are regular workshops for technical and non-technical fields. They have well equipped labs and great helping staff.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course is designed as per the syllabus provided by Jammu university. The subjects in first year are supplementary and build the base for future courses. The syllabus was strictly followed throughout the college. Also, as last year approaches you are supposed to do a lot of projects and trainings.

Internships Opportunities

No. My college doesn't provide any kind of internship. You have to go through the general process of entrance exam.

Placement Experience

3

The job opportunities are great. The college administrators go out of their ways to invite prestigious companies and start ups like CGI, infineon technologies etc. Then there is the udaan program through which college placements are done. Students are hired by TCS etc

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is really feasible. It is around 50k including taxes and all for one complete year. Compared to the facilities offered by the college it is not much. You have to pay extra if you are taking the bus. There is a one time fee deducted initially which is refunded once you pass out

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes. The college has collaborated with some colleges abroad and have a scholarship provided to meritorious students. Also, there is loan facility for start ups.

Hostel Facilities

3

There is no hostel. However there are two canteens. One is a general canteen, the other one is a Lipton tea stall. The food is affordable and good. Plus there are two dhabas outside the college gate. The food is your typical desi food. The setting of college canteen is pleasing to the eye.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes the alumni network is strong. The college has a mentor program also. If you want you will be set up with a successful senior who would guide you throughout college and after.

Exam Structure

Every semester you have to do two assignments for every subject. Then there are sessional exams, again two per subject each semester. Then follow the finals. Apart from this , the attendance constitutes huge chunk of scores. In case you fail the sessional, you are allowed to take one extra supplementary exam.

Admission

I took the JKCET exam , which is a state wide entrance test. I managed to score above cut off and was invited for counselling. During counselling you have to submit the names of colleges and courses you are willing to take according to preference. My first choice was MIET and electronics and communication. I got my wish and took admission by going to MIET campus.

Faculty

3.5

The faculty members are well educated and overall very nice to students. Even the helping staff is very polite. Most of them focus on other aspects of studies apart from what is written in syllabus. The teachers occasionally arrange for guest lectures and are always available if you need help.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is quiet relevant it covers all the important subjects and topics.I chose the Ece branch as the demand of semiconductors is rising in the future. The curriculum perpares us well for real world applications. The course teaches us a lot of outdated concepts but it misses out to teach about what is happening in the world right now. So the course can involve a lot of topics that are in trend.

Placement Experience:

Placemets start right from your 7th semester. Most comapnies that would come here would be like vedanta , ashok leyland etc etc who mainly do mass hiring, th no of offers are quite low as for durig my time most companies qul do diversity and hiring would only select girls and the girls were low in numbers as compared to the boys so each girl recieved atleast 2-3 offers while rarely a boy would even rev=cieve a single offer. The highest package was offered by Vedanta but it was 13 lpa in ct in hand it would be arond 5-6 lpa , the average package was also the same around 5-6 lakhs per annum. Percentage of students placed would be around 30 percent but they inflated the numbers heavily but showing only the students who were eleigible as boys were mostle ineligible. My plans are to look for masters somewhere abroad.
