Likes
- The staff is very well educated and they try to help you with everything you stuck at. They offer you help. The seniors are also very helpful. And the campus and environment is very well
- There are so many activities for freshers that they don't feel awkward or uncomfortable in adapting college.
Dislikes
- Too much study pressure. Like after every month or few days they tend to give us exams and assignments, which feel very suffocating sometimes
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum mostly gets changed every year to match what's going on in upcoming years. There are very useful sessions which not only helps us in academic but also in daily problems as well. The exams takes place frequently here. The timings are 2 hours for mst, 3 hours for est and 15 mins for sessional. The difficulty level is moderate.
Internships Opportunities
Summer internships which are after 2nd/3rd year are optional and give an opportunity to student to get exposure of practical industrial environment. There are many top mncs like Google, ibm, Walmart, Infosys, Amazon offering placements to students.
Placement Experience
In last year, which is 4th year students start practicing internship and later on they get placed in well to do companies. There are many companies which visit our campus like Infosys, Amazon, Google, Microsoft etc and they place number of offers. I will talk about my branch which is coe, the highesy package offered was 55 lakhs. There is about 90-93 percent of students getting in campus placements. My plans after the degree is to get placed in good company and later doing some business
Fees and Financial Aid
I have applied for coe, and my fees for first semester is 329500. There is different cutoff for reserved category. The other branch like chemical civil has fees 219000 and so on. Computer has the highest fees. Yes the college do provide scholarship for first year students who have scored more than 95 in boards.
Campus Life
In first year, in the month of August, frosh take the charge of events , like artheria, whodunit, prom, beg borrow steal and so on. Thapar has one of the best north library. It has all the books , all the journals everything you need is in library. One of the best place in campus as well. There are teachers available at every point for the academic whether in class or library. There are sports mania , sports club as well happening in thapar. There are many student run social groups and club like adventure club, virsa etc it helps in making students socialise, how to face the world and so on. Overall it's good for students.
Admission
I wished to get selected in IITs but unfortunately or fortunately didn't get selected, then chose the best private institute which was thapar by placements, faculty, academics, campus, overall it seemed good. My jee result was not up to the mark , I wasn't getting the branches I wished for but I was getting that branch here. For admission in thapar, you just have to register only and fill your details. And whenever counselling appears and your percentage reaches the cutoff you will get the seat. It's simple.
Faculty
The faculty members are very nice. They offer help to every student possible. The faculty to student ratio is around 1:150. But there are tutorials classes as well where students can ask how many doubts they can and the ratio is 1:25. Overall it's very easy to communicate. To be honest till now every faculty I have met are amazing , and sweet, and generous and very educated. There are many exams majorly msts and ests and sessional. Sessional are comparatively easy but mst, est are tough. Majority of the students get pass in exams very few get struck.
