What Students Say
Likes
- The faculty were mostly easy to approach during their free time.
- The faculty professors would freely refer TAs for personal doubt clearing
- There was a lot of unity among the fresher undergraduates as they shared the pain points of JEE examination
Dislikes
- The administration is very sloppy and ineffective
- The clerks and peons on payroll slack off too much and are very arrogant. Helping the concerned students is the last thing on their mind
- Digital test centers did not have free navigation among questions
Course Curriculum Overview
Among all the departments available for undergraduates, the department of chemical engineering is one of the least loaded acaddemically. Since placement does not differentiate in branch and CG is dependent on branch but observed in placements, an easier branch is the best option. Everyone relies on Coursera and platforms like edX for certification and industrial knowledge.
Internships Opportunities
The CDC arranges for internship for students in their prefinal year. Personally I chose not opt for them as I intend to go for reasearch and developement in core sectors and research grants and innovation project suit me better than industrial internship. My friends got placed in very reputed companies like ITC, HUL, Morgan Stanley, Nomura, Google for internships to name a few.
Placement Experience
The CDC of the institute arranges on campus placement drives for the final year students. It also arranges facilities for internships. Personally I intend to go for PSUs through GATE as I don't intend to enter the hardcore corporate life. Besides I am interested in core sector.
Fees and Financial Aid
The institute levies semester fees without which one will not be able to register for the respective semester. The fees is different for General students and discounted for Sc, ST, OBC, PwD and EWS candidates. Over the course of a year it stays the same for each semester. At first the student is supposed gto pay nearly 23000 INR as the acceptance fee. This fees is later discounted from the fees after the student proceeds for further payment. Annual Institute Fee: 200000 INR Annual Hall Fee: ~90000 INR
Campus Life
The infrastructure of classrooms, guest houses, auditoriums and theaters is top knotch. The campus is great for sight seeing with over 2000 acres of lush green area. There are facilities for refreshment outside the campus for weekend plans and the rural area does not have the congestion and dissatisfaction like metro citites.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel fees costs me INR 24000 per semester and I stay here for around 4 months in a single room. My rooms spans for 64 square feet and has mosaic tiles. Rooms are painted every year in a colour of choice of hall administration. The mess charges cost INR 14500 per semester and are not that great with the warden receiving food quality complaints quite often. My hall has 2 playgrounds of 0.5 acre each, 1 small gym and inddor games like fooseball and carrom.
Admission
I chose this college as this is affiliated to the central government and it is autonomous. In terms of engineering placements there is no better college than this and its 4 big 5 counterparts. The competition faced here on a daily basis prepares one to strive for excellence everyday. Also the institute has the upper hand at ROI and College tag than its counterparts.
Faculty
The envioronment there is very similar to government schools. For 1 course there are 1-2 faculties but they dont teach half the batch. They would teach their own part to the whole class. This is very poor management of academic resource as one faculty teaches 130 students on an average. It is very rare to split the classes in sections. Think of semester exzminaions as your High School board exam centres.
