Remarks

One thing a college which has all the characteristics to be declared as a university is still lagging that tag till today. During our times, the college was going to be a Dean or independent University that will not operate under the preview of WBUT. Having an MBA, MTech, Law school, and 12 to 14 Engineering departments, the administration should be really concerned about this matter. After all, we all love our college.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

On the first of college, the newcomers are welcomed by the seniors by organizing the programmes. The very next day, the GTE routine starts. The college timing is from 9 A.M to 12:00 noon, then there will be a lunch break for 2 hours. , and again the classes resume at 2 pm up to 6 pm, and sometimes at 7 P.M also. A student of one department can hardly meet the other department fellow,.The college is well disciplined, with splendid Faculty Members, and most of them are either the research scholar or GTE gold medalist in his or her own subject. The lecturers are very cooperative and are often understood to be taking care of each of the students in the class. No student can bunk the class without valid reason and if done so, and it usually comes to the notice then the student has to face The Disciplinary Action Committee. In my four years of college life. I never felt as being a college student, instead, I was more like a convent student. This sort environment that has been nurtured by the hard-working teachers has made the college to the neat in Bengal in each and every sector. In a year, there will be two semester board exams conducted by WBUT, and the college in the span of every 15 days conducts the internal exams, and the students have to perform well in these internal exams because According to the WBUT rules, 20percent of the marks in the semester exams will be under the college Jargon. In a day mostly the theory classes are conducted in the fay time and the practical classes which are the backbone for the engineering students are conducted in the other half. Some may think the schedule as hectic, but it, in fact, teachers train us to function properly in any kind of difficult situation in the future. After completing the college, and living an employee's life, one often remembers the goodness inculcated in their habits by the College Administrations

Placement Experience

4

The campusing process starts once the student reaches the second semester of the 3rd year. Since Haldia is an industrial hub and the oldest port that still operates as an important point to access the south Asian countries, so most of the MNC due to its geographical viability come for the campusing in the college. More than 60 percent in out times the students go the job in campus placements, rest of them appear different competitive exams and the news of success often used to reverberate inside the college premises The mammoth infrastructure and the accessibility of technological devices have proved that HIT is one among the top 50 colleges in India which provides Class A category labs. Every year the college Fraternity organized a college fest in the winter season and a cultural fest during the monsoon. The students are provided enough avenue to explore their creativity and hidden skills.

College Events

3.5

As, I said The College witness two big fests, one in the winters and another which is a cultural milieu in the monsoon. The winter College fest is gradual and will be conducted for 2 or 3 days. On the first day, the college bands and the dancing troops of the college itself perform and sets the stage on fire. On the last day of the fest, there is a tradition of inviting some big glamour artists of India Bollywood music Industry. From Raghu Dixit to Monali Thakur and from Euphoria to Shreya Ghosal, many such big names will be star-performer on the last day. During the cultural Fest, it is most interesting to see the Cultural heterogeneity getting mingled under the same roof. The day, I became a bit patriotic, when I delivered a speech on the diversity of Indian Culture. Overall many outdoor games and e-gaming also take place, best among all used to be the Counterstrike organized by IEEE.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is not that much high compared to the other private colleges. In our time per semester, we had two pay 52000Rs, for even and for the odd semester the tuition fees were 46000, At the present time there are some changes being made in the structure of the fee but it is also seen to be within the comfortable Range. Regarding Hostel, one has to pay for the entire six months as rent which is somewhat 3000, Rs,(Our time it was 1800) per month. Regarding food, the Canteen charges on a monthly basis. It is completely a money value Institution., but during the time of admission in the First year the fees charged by the college will be much higher than the remaining semester Fees.one can avail an education loan and most of the banks easily agree to finance just because of the good reputation earned by the college.

Fees and Financial Aid

All the parents are not financially sound go bear the expenses of his or her son. For such students, many banks offer education loans at very low interest, and the parents have to go bear the monthly EMI of the amount of Loan being sanctioned. Even I opted for an education loan from the United Bank of India, which is nearby the permanent residential address. HIT has become a brand, and there is no denying if the facts that the bank will offer loans to the students. After completion of the degree, the bank gives 4 years as a moratorium period, after that the loan has two be paid like the ways we pay EMI for the personal loans. So No worries for the total college expenses. The only thing to worry is, to get a good rank and reserve the seat in this college

Campus Life

5

On the first year, the interaction between the students and building of the friendship rapport is very less seen, but from the second year, one doesn't realize how fast the college gets over. Haldia Institute of Technology, I believe is a symbol of equalizing, for four Years I never thought myself to be the outsiders in Bengal. One respects other cultures and beliefs. Yeah, I do accept that mechanical, civil, Electrical are bit make crowded departments but the remaining others will have the ratio nearly 1:1. The friendship bond that gets developed and matured in the course of college life, It's true relationship values are understood when the final day of Bid adieu comes. I often feel nostalgic, whenever I think about the college days. The good part is, many among the group mates of our batch are still in good touch and believe will stand by the side at the time if grief. The relationships values are actually well understood during this golden life

Hostel Facilities

4

There are many hotels within the college territory, and the students are segregated as per their seniority, likes, and alike. The girl's hostel is located very near to the institution and is much sophisticated compared to the boy's hostel. Altogether withing a 1km range, there are 10 hostels. The outsiders are advised to choose the hostel for stay, as in a group one learns many moral things which are required for any person in the long journey of life. Out of 6 boys hostel, 3 of them are provided with the wifi facilities, the other 3, which located at a 300m distance outside the campus, doesn't get the free Wi-Fi suffrage. A new connection can be taken and affordable prices, as most of us used to do so.

Alumni/Alumna

There is an Alumni association of these esteemed institutions, who still think for the betterment of the college. Recently I was on a journey to Canada, luckily I met one of my seniors who happen to be agglutinate with the college, which means the alumni compose the ex-students throughout the globe.

Admission

After clearing W.B.J.E.E in 2011, I got a seat in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Haldia Institute of Technology. HIT is most famous for two disciplines One is Mechanical and the other one is Civil Engg.Department. On the day of counseling of WBJEE which was held on Kolkata, the same day the seat reservation procedure has to be followed because HIT is among the top 10 best Engineering colleges of Bengal. The college Administration for the sake of students carries the admission procedure in Kolkata Salts Lake. Otherwise one can also prefer to visit the college for the same. The admission process is conducted in the month June-July. On the first week of August, the students have to join the college. It depends upon the will of the students whether they choose to stay in the hostel or not. Most of the students from different parts of the country who gets the admission most often join the Hostel. During Admission, one has to pay the fees of the 1st semester and for hostel boarders, the hostel charges are also added in the fees.

Faculty

4

The faculty members are well versed in their respective fields and are always leaned to make the class exuberant and embellished. T.K Jana Head of Department Mechanical Department is considered to be the finest faculty in his subject among Bengal. In fact, the colleges affiliated to WBUT often follow the book written by him for mechanics and other mechanical subjects. In the first year, all the students irrespective to their branches are called the School of Applied Science, after clearing 2 semesters, then the students segregate to their respective departments. Being a mechanical student I was very much influenced by the intelligence and personality of Sir Dev Datta Ghosh, who is the HOD for Applied Electronics and Instrumentation. For every subject, more than 5 teachers are available, and the students get enough guidance in every subject either it's theoretical or practical. The output of any college is not measured by the number of 90 percent marks holders, instead, the output is symbolized by how many numbers of students have reached the watermark of their career after passing out of the college. The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
