Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The curriculum that influenced my decision to take this course is to get research opportunities There should be improvement in teaching methods instead of teaching through slides they should teach on boards and also be friendly with students. the frequency and timing (2 hrs for mid sem exam and 3 hrs for end sem exams) of the examination is perfect according to their difficulty level

Placement Experience

4

The placements in the colleges are all well and good. The college provides placement oppurtunities for both B Tech students and M Tech students. The B Tech and M Tech students both are elegible for placement in their final year, and for internship in their prefinal year. The average pakage offered is 23 to 25 lakhs.

Fees and Financial Aid

The year wise fees i paying is 280000(100000 tution fees and 40000 hostel and other per semester). there are many scolarships available at official erp system and we can also use income certificate of family for scolarship in institute fees.

Campus Life

4.5

the campus life is really interesting and happening because of all the societies and clubs. There is some event happening almost all year round because of all these clubs. There are three main fest on the college Spring Fest (the annual social and cultural fest of IIT Kharagpur), KTJ (the annual tech fest of IIT Kharagpur) and shaurya (the sports fest which has been started again after a long break). Apart from this there are many societies like TAdS ( Technology Adventure Society) whose focus are on adventures activities in and out of the campus.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

The rooms provides you with a bed, fan, table and chair (Sometimes with light). There are some halls where you live in sharing rooms and some where you get a personal room. Talking about the food provide in halls, they are not that great and the mess workers are not even that cooperative, sometimes you have to fight to get another serving of food. The main food in revolving around fishes and the food is specially bad for vegetarians. Although we do have night canteen and General Stores in almost all the halls where you can get atleast a decent food for a somewhat convenient price.

Admission

I got this college by jossa councelling. i filled many colleges but i got iit kgp according to my eligibility and rank cut-off. i didn't apply for other colleges rather than jossa councelling so i didn't get any college. The admission process is first of all we have to clear the JEE Mains cut-off so that we can apper for JEE advanced if someone is not able to clear cut-off the he/she is not eligible for JEE advanced and also have to score more than 75% in 12TH board exam. Then one have clear JEE advanced than after through jossa councelling we can apply for IIT.

Faculty

4

IIT kgp follow a credit based grading system.the faculty to student ratio is 1/65. faculty student relation is good with some prof. but very poor for some prof. because of communication gap between prof. and students. i pesonally like some faculties because they put efforts on all type of students and one more reason is they belive to teach on board not with slides and handouts. Most student does'nt like that faculties who teaches with slides and make efforts on only some students. each samester there is 2 exams one is mid semester exam and other is end semester exam in between there is one or two quizes or tests are there from each subject. For labs there is lab test, lab report submission of all experiments and in last there is a lab viva.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
