Review of Thapar College

ENC stands for Electronics and Computing. I am personally interested in electronics. Nowadays Computing is trending in market and is considered as an important skill. So ENC consists of almost 70% electronics and 30% computing which contains almost all the basics of programming. If I will polish my skills in programming then I can opt for software companies too.

Internship opportunities are provided by college. Atleast 7.5 and preferably 8.5 and above CGPA required for better opportunities. Summer internships are also available in which one gets opportunity to work for some pay or for free in a company to gain skills and experience of industry standard. It helps a lot during placements.

Placement records of Thapar Institute is good. Although average package is almost 11LPA but still a large number of stundents are able to grab placement. Highest packages are 1cr and above. In the end of third semester and 4th semester onwards students are eligible for placements. My plan is also to grab a decent placement in a tech company.

The year-wise fees of course ENC is 600000 rupees, registration fees is 1500 rupees, admission fees is 30000 rupees, hostel fees is 75000, mess fees is 50000 rupees per year. Branches like chemical, civil, ECE have 30000 to 40000 rupees less than ENC. and fees for CS is equal to ENC. Scholarships are available on the basis of CGPA achieved in college exams. Reservation of seats exists for Punjab students. They are given preference for branch allocation and hostel allocation earlier than other state students.

Campus life at Thapar is enjoyble and impressive. Seniors arranged a lot of events and parties for welcome of freshers. Personality developments classes and workshops were arranged for our orientation towards our goals. A number of fests are held in college. Library of the college is amzing . It contains a large number of books, jouranals and facilitiy of library application is also provided for quick access to digital copy of books. A large number of sports opportunities are available like cricket, basket ball, gym, swimming, volleyball etc. A large no. of socities are availale for different agendas and purposes in college.

Hostel facility is good. Facilities are good. Although some fresher hostels are old but they are worth the college life and hostels for seniors are amazing. Meals are handeled by sodexo . Quality and cleanliness is good. Small cafeterias are avaialble within mess and other paid shops are also available in campus. Hostel registration process is offline after branch allocation. I live in sharing room which has 3 beds, attached toilet and bathroom NON AC. It costs me approximately 38000 rupees per semester and mess charges are 24800 rupees per semester.

I chose this college over other colleges because it is closest to my home town. My relative's childern also passed from this college and are well settled now. I wanted to apply for Jaypee Noida but I missed its application form. I also chose this college due to its good placement records. I did not get rejection from any colleges I applied for. Admission process includes filling the Application form, then participating in counselling and fees payment. JEE is accepted for brach allocation in Thapar. One can get COE by scoring above 95%ile if outside Punjab.

There is a large number of faculty members present in the college. All the faculty members are cooperative and polite. Classes are conducted in English. Personality development classes and wellbeing classes are provided for student welfare. Each semester contains Mid semester tests and end semester tests. The course curriculum is relevant. Almost every proffesor is PhD. Graduate. Overall academic experience is good.
