Course Curriculum Overview

3

The CBME curriculum is followed for MBBS all over india now. It integrates all the years of studies and helps in holostic learning instead of learning topics subject wise. We also have special classes for communication, doctor patient relationships, work ethics etc. If a person studies consistently the exams are not difficult, however the syllabus is huge and revision is the key to do well in exams.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

After finishing 4 years of studies, we have mandatory internship for 1 year as part of our curriculum only after finishing which, we get our degree. The internship is in our hospital itself, for some postings, we go to nearby govt. Hospitals. We get to assist in surgeries and procedures and learn the clinical aspect of everything.

Fees and Financial Aid

I am from the first batch of this college SSIMS&RC, my tuition fees was 10.5 lakh per annum, which has remained constant every year. Currently the fees is around 17.5 lakh per annum for joining batch. There is no scholarship available. Management seats are available at a higher price. ( Donation )

Campus Life

2.5

The infrastructure is not bad. Good buildings, good labs, good hostels. But there are no extracurricular activities I have started a literary club in the college called Wordsworth and we plan few events every month like, debates, creative writing, open mic etc. Every year we go to fests of other colleges such as Manipal and MMC.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Hostel fees is mandatory for all the students. After final year, few students shifted outside hostel but they still had to pay the hostel fees. The buildings and washrooms are good enough. Theres enough space and privacy. We have 2 sharing and 3 sharing rooms but theyre like compartments so theres full privacy. Mess food is decent. Cant complain.

Admission

In 2019, i had given neet and had a score of 482 with a rank of 42k. My only option was deemed universities and at that time, this college had the least fees amongst all deemed universities and i liked the idea of living in banglore. For admission i had to make a bank guarantee of 36 lakhs, which was a very tiresome thing to do, but managed it somehow.

Faculty

3

The faculties for all the subjects are decent. We have a mentor mentee program starting from 3rd year which helps teachers guide students on a personal basis. 5 mentees are alloted to one mentor, who takes care of their attendance and exam issues. Normal theory classes, student to teacher ratio is 150 to 1. In practicals the ratio is 15 to 1. University exams have a usual pass percentage of 70%, rest of the students who couldnt clear the exam can give a fast track supplementary exam in 2 months again. Overall 90% of the class passes to the next year.

Course Curriculum Overview:

curriculum is designed to be highly relevant and comprehensive for modern medical practice.Early Clinical Exposure is One of the strongest aspects of the curriculum is introducing students to patients in their very second year. The final year of the curriculum—the Compulsory Rotatory Residential Internship (CRRI) is effective it prepares students for the high-pressure environment of Indian healthcare, making them very capable of handling emergencies and outpatient departments (OPD ). Students feel that lectures are still too focused on passive PowerPoint presentations.Rigorous schedule, integrating "Life Skills" or "Stress Management" modules more formally into the foundation course would be helpful. The university exams (RGUHS) are generally fair but require a very high level of descriptive writing and practical precision.
