Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Course Curriculum : There are subjects that are 40 years old (students cry here but basics are necessary) and some that are based on latest trends. I choose Electronics and Telecommunication and the curriculum is best of both worlds (basic subjects & advanced ones) Basic Subjects : Electronics Devices, Analog Electronics, Digitial Electronics Advanced : Fiber Optics, VLSI, IoT Cross Branch : DSA, Machine Learning, Deep Learning From third year you have a option to choose a minor or honor. I chose a minor in Financial Engineering (one of the coolest course we have) Teaching methods differ teacher to teacher - some teach by easy to understand ppts, some go deep in books, some as practical as possible and so on.

Fees and Financial Aid

When I took admission in first year, the fees were Rs. 90600/- for a general category candidate. For other reservation based categories the fees differ (less than general obviously) Eg. OBC had 75000/- and SC/ST had 15000/- In the subsequent years, SY TY Final Year, the fees are 86000/- for general and similar deduction for other categories. Fees Structure : Tution Fees : 15000 Development Fees : 40000 Exam Fees : 1500 Other Charges (Wifi, Library etc) : the rest amount There is Foreign Quota (NRI, OCI, CIWG etc) for NRI the fees are 30k more than general category fees , for OCI & CIWG its around 5.5 lakh per year) Finally the financial aids : - Education Loan - Partial Payment (60-40 Installment Split) - Government Scholarships (MahaDBT) - Private Scholarships (By Alumnis & Organisations - Merit based generally above 7.5CGPA)

Campus Life

4

Fests : Mindspark - Technical Impressions - Cultural PSF - Startups & Business Zest - Sports Regatta - Boating Annual Gathering A Library of plenty of books as well as editorials and journals across various domains is there. A powerful and fast WiFi Connection throughout Campus is a cherry on top! Sports - From Cricket, Football to Badminton, Volleyball and from Kho Kho, Kabaddi to Chess we have it all. There are student led groups who are into atheletics and , to everyones shock, fencing! A common very large ground for football and cricket like games, courts for Basketball and Badminton and some mini ground like places inside hostel too. Boating (more specifically Rowing) : one of the most unique attraction of out college is there too. Clubs - Technical : Software Development Section, DS&AI, Robotic Circle, Satellite Group, Racing Cultural : SpicMacay, Drama, Film Social : Nisarg, Spandan, NSS Other : Debate, Editorial and many many more COEP caters to every type of student!

Admission

My college preference was COEP was purely beacuse its the top choice of a MHTCET candidate. I was sure that i will get a branch above electrical, and i didnt really care much about the branch but the college as a whole provides so much (Club, Events, Opporunities & People) So I didnt apply for any other MHTCET college other than COEP. I did almost took NIT Puducherry via JEE JOSAA, but COEP seemed better. Other Colleges that i tried for was obviously the IITs but my score wasnt enough to get a good branch AND a good IIT, so left the counciling. Admission Process is via CET Cell after MHTCET and/or JEE. One more way is through foreign quota (NRI, OCI, CIWG etc) MHTCET Cutoffs (General Male) Computer : 99.70 + Circuital branches (Instru, Entc, Elec) : 98 + Any Branch is ok : 95 + For Reservation Cutoffs refer a official online source (CET Cell) Branch Sequence (Ascending order according to Cutoff Trends) Comp, Entc, R&AI, Elec, Instru, Mech, Manu, Civil, Meta, Planning

Faculty

3.5

Each branch has around 100 students per class. For lectures its 1 faculty per course. For labs class is been divided in Batches of 20-25 students with one batch having a particular lab at a time each with a 1 faculty. Most faculties here are approachable. Let me add that all the faculties are Masters and PhD holders, but not everyone can convey what they know (Students have to be flexible) Course Structure : 5-6 Theory Subjects and 5-6 lab subjects each semester ( In total there around 21-25 credits per semester ) For exams, generally 10 (internal) + 30 (mid semester exam) + 60 (End semester exam) There are immediate retests for students who werent able to give test or failed. We are allowed to have upto 4 backlogs (that can be covered in future semesters) but above that is year drop.

I choose this course because I have genuine interest in civil engineering. The faculty student ration is 1:50. Our faculties are well qualified they are master's degree holders in design and structural engineering. Some of them are PhD holders and many of them have done their master's from NIT and IIT. Term exams are scheduled after every 2 months. it is easy to pass because it consists of 30 marks only.
