The course curriculum for B.Tech is divided into 8 semesters of 4 years duration. The first year is a common course for each branch which consists of basic engineering subjects and subjects like professional communication and personality development. In the subsequent semesters, advanced subjects of engineering are taught and various laboratories are there to help the students to gain the practical knowledge of subjects taught. Each department has a dedicated computer lab for the students to do research on the latest technologies like CAD, CATIA, SOLID WORKS, ANSYS, CREO. KIIT has an aerospace laboratory to help the students of aeronautical engineering students. There is an NI (National Innovation) center for the students to learn the blend of mechanical engineering and Electronics engineering. The curriculum is designed to help a student grow technically, practically and professionally in his/her career.

Internships Opportunities

KIIT organizes various internship camps for students who are looking for an internship at a reputed organization. I got an internship opportunity at ACC cement (this was an unpaid internship). Being a KIITian surely adds to your CV whenever you go out for any internship opportunities.

College Events

4.5

KIIT Fest is one of the biggest techno-cultural extravaganzas in the Eastern region of India. It is the annual University fest which sees the participation of 5,000 students from across the globe for 3 days of techno-cultural extravaganza. Sunidhi Chauhan, Arman Mallick, Sonu Nigam are some of the biggest names who have graced the event with their presence in the past. KIIT is home to the KIITMUN (KIIT Model United Nation) the biggest MUN in Asia. It is a 4 days event comprising of delegates across the globe representing various countries discussing the burning issues in the world. TEDxKIIT is the independent version of TED talks hosted by KIIT annually. It has seen a vast increase in the audience in recent years due to the presence of persons of eminence presiding over the event. The philosophy of our honorable Founder Achyuta Samanta sir is that you must help a person who is in need and help him in developing to stand on his own feet by spreading knowledge (prime example KISS), there's an annual event called Art Of Giving (AOG) where every student according to his/her capability feeds poor and provides with necessary things, this event is not only restricted to students but also involves their family members living all over India and abroad to be a part of this Noble cause, there's no doubt in saying that this is the biggest college event organized by any college across the globe in terms of number of participants and the cause it serves.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Being a private self financed institution with no grant from the government, KIIT provides the best education at a very feasible fee. Fees consist of educational fees which are Rs.1,10,000 (lower than any other private college of the same reputation) hostel room rent Rs.15,000, Mess charges Rs.17,500. In my opinion, the fees charged is genuine and feasible.

Fees and Financial Aid

The scholarship is provided to top rankers of KIITEE entrance exams. There is a scholarship for the top 3 rankers of every department which amounts to Rs.1,20,000 per annum. KIIT also provides assistance to students who could not afford higher education due to financial constraints but are very talented and motivated to succeed in life. All the banks provide an education loan facility at a very subsidized interest rate to students to avail of education at KIIT.

The best thing about KIIT is that there is no culture of the ragging of students since it's inception and the mindset of students is made in such a way that they don't have time for these unnecessary evil activities. Every hostel also has a 24×7 shuttle service for any emergency transportation service which can be availed free of cost. The hostels are more than just a living place for students it acts as the center of students meeting coming from different horizons and living in harmony with each other.

KIIT has a strong alumni network of approximately 50,000 alumni living across the globe working at various government and private sector organizations in a very respectable position. KIIT alumni are Engineering service officers, IAS officers, CEO of MNCs, and also the founders of their own startup.

Exam Structure

Semester exams are conducted twice a year for Autumn and spring semesters respectively. Each subject's semester exam is of 100 marks consisting of 60 marks of end semester exam 25 marks of mid semester exam and 15 marks of the quiz, assignment and other activity based learning. Laboratory viva and practical exams are conducted to test the practical learning of students.

Admission

I got to know about KIIT from one of my senior who is an alumnus of the 2012 batch. I applied through KIITEE (this is probably the only college entrance test which is free of cost). KIITEE is the national level entrance exam conducted to select students for various courses at KIIT University. After securing a rank of 5700, I was called for counseling on day 1 there I had to deposit a sum of Rs.75,000 as token money to confirm my admission (from this Rs.75,000 they give you the latest laptop with high end features, which if you purchase from the market will cost you more than that) After the counseling, we were called for joining in the month of July. After the joining, there were orientation programs to help us mix with each other and to Know about the college.

Faculty

4.5

Faculties of engineering are all from reputed IITs and having a vast industrial and teaching experience. Almost all the faculties have their papers published in international journals. They provide 24×7 assistance to students for their academic issues as well as their personal issues. There is a dedicated Tutor Mentor for a group of every 40 students who look into the overall matters of the students personally. The best thing here at KIIT is that you can approach any faculty member for your issues without any hesitation and he/she will surely solve that for you irrespective of your background. Faculty here at KIIT are like parents away from home who teach you, make your work, find your mistakes and correct it, and guide you for your career growth.

Placement Experience:

I would rate the placements at my college as 3 out of 5. Students usually become eligible for campus placements from the sixth or seventh semester, and a few well-known companies do visit the campus every year. The placement cell helps with basic training like resume building and interviews, and many students, especially from IT branches, manage to secure jobs. At the same time, the average salary packages are not very high and top roles are limited, so a lot of students also focus on skill development, off-campus opportunities or higher studies after completing their degree

Students are eligible for placement from their 3rd year onwards. It has been only 2-3 months but I have seen several companies arriving at the college, prominent ones being Flipkar,Deloitte, Xerox, TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Microsoft, Dell and several others including startups. There is no accurate data on how many offers have been made this year, but there are rumours that more than 95% of the eligible students have got placements. After getting a degree my plans are if I dont land into a satisfying job then I will start my preparation of the military or start a new business.
