Ruia: A place where everyone should be

Ruia is one of the best places you can be. If you get a chance to be here, do come and experience the greatness of it. I am sure you will love the place. There are negative experiences too, but then again which place doesn't have that?

Merit List

There are a plethora of options in Ruia both in arts and science and we also have BMM and Bvoc courses. Courses in greenhouse management and travel and tourism are also available. In total, there are 25 departments in Ruia. The exam structure is semester wise where you have 2 semesters and 2 internal class tests a year, one of each in each semester. The teachers are very cooperative and encouraging which helps you stand out from other college students

Placements and job opportunities are not on the higher side as most people opt for higher education than a job after graduation. But the college does conduct a job fair every year inviting several companies and other people. But I would say the job fair favors mostly the Chemistry Microbiology and biotechnology students more than others.

Our college has an annual fest that happens in December called the Utsav Aarohan. This goes on for 3 days and is an event of great pomp and joy with many celebrities gracing the occasion. That's the cultural fest of the college. Another event that happens is the monsoon sports that happen in July/August that includes many sports

The fees for aided courses are very nominal that is around 5000 rupees per year. The fees for self financed courses could be more, I don't have an idea about it. The quality of education is much more than the fees taken.

I don't know about any loan or scholarship that the college offers. It would offer scholarships no doubt, but I am unaware of that section. They confer many awards to students excelling in studies and extracurriculars in which students have to self nominate themselves.

There is one competition happening every day. That is the vibe Ruia has. There are a lot of competitions happening in the college that most of the time we miss it before the deadline. Right from the old school ones to as advanced as film making, there are a lot of things happening

There are no hostel facilities in Ruia although there are students in my class, girl students especially those who have taken hostel facilities outside the college in a Mahila hostel nearby. There are other hostels around too.

The alumni association is very strong. They have been instrumental in the renovation works happening in college. After I have come to the college, the main renovation that is conducted by the association that I've seen is the renovation of the girl's washroom in junior college building and the installation of a lift in the main building. One alumnus has donated as huge as 70 lakhs to their department

Ruia, having its name for A1 teaching has an excellent lineage of teachers. 80 years now, the college has some of the excellent faculty members among all colleges in Mumbai. They also conduct a lot of seminars and guest lectures which helps you get an opportunity to witness great teachers from IIT and TIFR deliver talks.
