Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I've always been interested in mechanical engineering which is why I chose this stream. Relevance wise, our course is very relevant and up to date with the industry. They start teaching you softwares like autocad, solidworks, ansys from year 1 itself. They also teach us engineering drawing which is very relevant to the course and helps us be future ready. Our maths is taught a coding approach and helps us in thinking logically when it comes to coding so that's a huge plus. Coming to examinations, they're conducted four times in a year and if you prepare for it a month before also I'd say you're set. It's that easy.

Placement Experience

3

Students become eligible for campus placements from the third year. Highest package this year was a 52 lpa from mercedes benz. The lowest is around 3-4 lpa which is given by all mass recruitment companies like Wipro, TCS, infosys. Mid packages are mostly taken by companies like Eicher, tata, Ashoka Leyland, and John deere. Oil companies like ongc and other Indian oil companies also hire mechanical graduates. Mechanical students also get access to placement in various IT sector jobs too. Around 70% students get placed. Reason for the 70% is because the remaining 30 opt for higher studies.

Fees and Financial Aid

The tuition fees for this year for mechanical is 3.15 lakhs. If you add caution fees, admission fees, development fees and other charges it goes to around an additional 20-30k. If you're going through management quota then out here it's like the better inside contact you have, the lesser will be the amount you have to pay. I know guys who've gotten admission in ECE by paying 3-4 lakhs in management and I also know guys who've paid 14-15 lakhs to get in ECE so it's mostly contact driven. For SC/ST caste it's somewhere around a lakh for a year. If you score well in your jee mains or cet they offer you scolarships based on merit only for the first year. If you get a 95+ you're given a 50% off, if you get around 90-95, it's a 40%, 85-90 is a 30%, 80-85 is a 20% and the last which is a 10% off you get when you have around 75-80. However these scolarships last only for the first semester fees and only if you score above an 8 gpa does the scholarship move forward to the next sem.

Campus Life

3.5

Campus Life is pretty chill. The rules aren't that strict and everything is pretty chill. Since most students who study also live in this city, the friend groups are already made well before college so those who come from other cities will have a difficult time in getting to know people. Our annual fest aarohan, is held after the first sem of exams get done which is around October November. Sports wise we just have a basketball court in campus and if you wanna play football or cricket or whatever there are turfs and sports arenas outside campus which you gotta sign up for and pay additionally.

Admission

So basically I was interested in mechanical and wanted to do something in pune. Based on my scores the only three options I had which were worth going waw, coep, vit and mit. I had talked to several councillors and all were suggesting me to take mit. Reason for doing so was because they said that all these three colleges teach the same syllabus which is from sppu. After taking admission in mit, I don't regret my choice one bit and I'm glad I took admission here. The cutoff for this year in mht cet for mechanical was 95 percentile by the third round. Try pera cet as well if you don't have good score in cet. In pera cet the cutoff this year was around 90%+ but the exam's online so it's easy.

Faculty

2.5

Faculty is decent I'd say. They're pretty helpful. They'll solve your queries and do a one on one with you if you want to. Of course, you'll find those areogant, conservative, type of teachers in every faculty, but I'd say there are very few of those. Personally I found the most of those kind in my engineering drawing faculty. Speaking of exams, we have two: mid sem and end sem. In between of all of that we have a ton of assignments, lab reports and tasks to complete which will make things pretty hectic for you. A lot of people pass in exams, but not a lot get a good score. So make sure you put in the work.

Our faculties are well qualified they are master's degree holders in design and structural engineering. Some of them are PhD holders and many of them have done their master's from NIT and IIT. Term exams are scheduled after every 2 months. it is easy to pass because it consists of 30 marks only.
