Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The curriculum is very well-rounded and includes both core subjects as well as the appropriate number of electives in semesters. The course prepares the students for real-world applications and to sit for placements. The faculties make sure that the important concepts get through and are earmarked for easy remembrance. The exams are conducted in an appropriately timed way. Midsems are conducted midway in a semester which is usually 6 weeks from the start of the semester and endsems happen 12 weeks from the start of the semester.

Internships Opportunities

5

HRC is a major recruiter for internships at KIIT. Other companies such as GE, Providence, and Forma. AI also provides internship opportunities at KIIT. The roles offered are based on the domain. The average stipend is 35k INR.

Placement Experience

3

Students become eligible for campus placements from around the 5th semester. Many companies offer internship opportunities with a performance-based PPO conversion to students in the pre-final year/final year. Proper campus placements happen to start 6th sem.

  • A number of companies come to KIIT including Amazon, TESCO, Nvidia, Walmart, TCS, EY, PWC, Deloitte, KPMG, Accenture and others.

The highest package in my batch was 40LPA and was offered to a couple of my batchmates by TESCO. The average package for my batch was around 7LPA. A good percentage of students got placed. I am currently employed in Pwc (Campus Placed) after getting my degree.

Fees and Financial Aid

KIIT breaks down the fees into annual payments.

For 1st year I paid: 1,75,000/ semester(3,00,000 for the year)+ caution deposit of 10000 + registration fees of 1000 + admission fee(one time) of 75,000+ hostel charges of around 1,00,000. From 2nd-4th year; I paid the same charges over again. Semester fees+hostel fees+registration fees for exams The total fees I was supposed to pay for the 4-year course was around 14,00,000 but my batch paid a little less because we were exempted from hostel fees during COVID. Scholarships are available on the basis of academic performance and financial aid. Top performers of KIITEE also get scholarships.

Campus Life

4.5

Campus life is never boring at KIIT. A number of events and seminars keep happening all year round. An annual fest is held around January/February. A lot of other events held by various societies and clubs keep happening throughout the year. KIIT offers multiple libraries with the highest level of quality of seating, infrastructure and books. It has one of the best Central Library I have ever seen. The classrooms are also well-equipped with ACs, Smartboards, projectors and monitors for faculty usage. Sports facilities are also top-notch with both an indoor and outdoor stadium present on campus. I was a part of Enactus, an entrepreneurial society that had a big impact on my life and my CV.

Hostel Facilities

3

  • The hostel facilities are good. The premises are clean and timely maintenance is done all time round. You can select what kind of room you want with options being provided by KIIT. I had a room that I shared with two other roommates.
  • The room came equipped with 3 Single beds with mattresses provided. An AC and three individual closet spaces. The hostel washrooms are also well-maintained and hygienic. The meals are not the best tasting but are hygienic. The variety gets monotonous soon.
  • Registration for hostels is integrated with the admission process. The hostels are a bit expensive.

Admission

  • I did get offers from other colleges such as SRM, VIT and Jaypee Noida. KIIT seemed to be the best fit for me in terms of the combination of infrastructure, placements and the overall experience I was looking for.
  • KIIT has a well-established CSE department and is ranked highly in national rankings, especially for engineering programs. KIIT has a consistent placement record for CSE.
  • KIITEE, the entrance exam is comparatively easier than SRMJEEE or VITEEE as it was based on a syllabus I was more comfortable with. The basic eligibility criteria to apply for Btech at KIIT is 10+2 qualification with at least 60% aggregate in PCM.
  • KIIT has its own entrance exam, KIITEE which is an online exam and the pattern is quite standard with questions from PCM based on the 10+2 syllabus.
  • The cutoff tends to be around rank 10000 with higher ranks being eligible for merit-based scholarships.

Faculty

4

The college has an abundance of good faculty and the faculty-student ratio is excellent. The class environment is nice and students can approach faculties without any problems. They are approachable and are willing to help at all times. I found a lot of impressive facilities including Shashikant sir who was our professor for DSA. Each semester has a midsem and an endsem along with a few class tests. The exams are appropriately levelled and with a good understanding of the curriculum, they are not hard to crack.

Placement Experience:

I would rate the placements at my college as 3 out of 5. Students usually become eligible for campus placements from the sixth or seventh semester, and a few well-known companies do visit the campus every year. The placement cell helps with basic training like resume building and interviews, and many students, especially from IT branches, manage to secure jobs. At the same time, the average salary packages are not very high and top roles are limited, so a lot of students also focus on skill development, off-campus opportunities or higher studies after completing their degree

Students are eligible for placement from their 3rd year onwards. It has been only 2-3 months but I have seen several companies arriving at the college, prominent ones being Flipkar,Deloitte, Xerox, TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Microsoft, Dell and several others including startups. There is no accurate data on how many offers have been made this year, but there are rumours that more than 95% of the eligible students have got placements. After getting a degree my plans are if I dont land into a satisfying job then I will start my preparation of the military or start a new business.
