Course Curriculum Overview

Electrical engineering is in trend nowadays because of the increasing electrical vehicles and all and this college provides internships and labs which will help students to prepare for a job...the syllabus for us is I think a lot bit outdated but the KTU has renewed the syllabus and it is really going with the effective industry needs

Internships Opportunities

The college provides internships opportunities with stipend during the 3rd year which is based on cgpa and skills...also the students can go on internship on their own way which is free or paid.. Before completing the course the students must do one internship and also a main project for the core subject

Placement Experience

Most of the students who sits for the campus selection get placed in top companies in india and abroad...the Highest package offered last year for t4 lpa ...mostly IT based companies come for the interview and also core companies for the electrical dept like keltech and bosh come here

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees structure is divided based on the mode of admission...for merit seat it is 40k for year and for management seat it is 70 the cost is higher for NRI seat which 1.2 lakhs per year..the college also provide several scholarships which decrease the college fees it is based on academic performance and students background

Campus Life

Students who come looking for placement will get a good satisfaction after the college but students who come looking for college life will be disappointed because the college size is very less and also there is no chill-out space for students to enjoy and spend their free time...the college also conducts annual tech fest and sport and arts fest too which help in upbringing the talented students

Admission

I mostly chose this college for the high placement rated provided throughout each batches ..this was my top priority college and i got admission here..the admission procedure is straightforwarded and done on the basis of the keam rank

The professors teaching here are highly qualified and government facilitiea most of them hold several degrees and also they are very approachable for students if we have any doubts..the exams here are based on ktu syllabus...ktu conducts exams sem wise but there will be two internal exams in between the sem exam

OUR COLLEGE LIFE

Placement Experience:

we are eligible for placement from the 7th sem. Many famous and small compines vist our college. Infosys, WIPRO, TCS vist our college. But the big companies take only few student. Highest package was 1,00,000. And the average package is around 4,00,000. Almost all students gets placed from the campus .

My Experience at NIT Calicut

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the EEE course curriculum around 8-8.5 /10 in terms of relevance.The curriculum provides strong fundamentals in core electrical engineering subjects and prepares students well for core jobs and higher studies.The course curriculum was revised in 2023, and our batch is the 1st batch under the new curriculum. however, there are still limited coding ,AI and data science subjects in EEE ,which could be improved. Exams are conducted times per semester and are generally moderately difficult.

Is engineering here worth it?

Students are eligible from 7th semester to sit for interviews. The pod.ai app helps us in making the resume and calculating a cgpa to appear for the intwrviews. The pod.ai registration fees is 500?. Companies such as nissan,infosys,commandtech,bimlabs,gulfasia etc has visited . And the highest package was 11 LPA and lowest was 3 LPA

MEC EEE REVIEW

I applied to cet, tkm, gec for branches eee and ec My first option was cet for which i couldn't get admission due to my rank. Cet requires rank below 1000. And my second option was mec (my college). I choose this college over gec and tkm because it was in my home town itself and it had better placement opportunities. MEC Thrikkakkara: Strong Academics and Placements, but Room for Infrastructure Growth

My cousin studied here few years back and is now working a top tech company.I applied for Cs in MSRIT and AMRITA,but the fee structure over there is too high(around 3-4 lakh per year).Here overall fee amount is equivalent the yearly fee.To get admission in MEC,a person needs to write keam exam .Three phases of allotment are held in here.At the beginning of all allotment,we could change our preferences.For CSE BATCH,CUTOFF RANK FOR merit is around 2k and Management around 3.5k .For CSBS it's around 3k for Merit and 7-8k for management....Read More

Good for social life but very minimal infrastructure and facilities

The reason I chose this college over other options were due to the prime location in which it is present and due to the city it is present in . MEC is renowned for the placement opportunities available in this college and is placed in the top 3 colleges in Kerala in terms of placemenets . The admission is based on the student's KEAM rank and this rank decides whether you get the Merit seat or management seat . For others you also have an NRI seat . One other college i applied to was GEC Thrissur and i chose this over GECT was due to placements and location ....Read More
