Likes

I like the facilities that are provided at the college. One of my favorite is the FabLab which is equipped with the latest tech.
I love the faculty. The senior teachers especially are very skilled at teaching
I like the tech fest we conduct every year.

Dislikes

I dont like the infrastructure of the college
The campus is very small and thus some dont have a permanent classroom.

Course Curriculum Overview

My course is Computer Science and Business Systems. It is a very relevant course as it is business merged with the latest technology. We have business papers and computer science papers. They are moderately difficult.

Class Size: 65Course Fees: INR 38000 per year

Internships Opportunities

There are few companies that have offered internships at this time. Oracle has offered 50000 rupees as stipend for the role of project intern. Doing we based projects and projects integrating hardware gives you a plus point.

Placement Experience

The college placements offered is decent. The avg package is of 6L/A. The highest package recieved is of 40L/A. About 30% of the students are getting placements. My plans after this degree is to get placed in a cyber security job.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college fees for general category is 45000 rupees per year. The college fees for management category is 76000 rupees per year. The college fees for SC/ST is 0 rupees per year. The college fees for OEC category is 0 rupees per year.

Campus Life

There are 2 main fests in our college. One is the tech fest which is called as Excel. And other is Arts & Sports which we call Layatharang and Chakravyuh. They are both very exciting and fun to participate in. I have volunteered for both and participated in both in my last 2 years.

Hostel Facilities

Ladies Hostel is not very good. The food is below average and the rate is expensive for the facility that is provided. When i was in hostel there were 5 kids in a very cramped room and the curfew was 7 pm. The fees was 7000 rs.

Admission

This college was my 2nd option. I did not have the rank to get to my 1st college. I didnt get the rank due my lack of focus during the entrance exams. The other college i applied to is CET, Tricandrum.

Faculty

The faculty is very friendly and supportive. They are always ready to help and makes sure everyone is attending the classes properly. There are 3 exams of which 2 are internals and the 3rd is the sem exam. About 80% pass the exams.

OUR COLLEGE LIFE

Placement Experience:

we are eligible for placement from the 7th sem. Many famous and small compines vist our college. Infosys, WIPRO, TCS vist our college. But the big companies take only few student. Highest package was 1,00,000. And the average package is around 4,00,000. Almost all students gets placed from the campus .

My Experience at NIT Calicut

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the EEE course curriculum around 8-8.5 /10 in terms of relevance.The curriculum provides strong fundamentals in core electrical engineering subjects and prepares students well for core jobs and higher studies.The course curriculum was revised in 2023, and our batch is the 1st batch under the new curriculum. however, there are still limited coding ,AI and data science subjects in EEE ,which could be improved. Exams are conducted times per semester and are generally moderately difficult.

Course Curriculum Overview:

the course curriculum is lakhs relevance to modern industry demands. while it covers the basics there is minimum focus on practical skills emerging technologies and real world applications overall, the courses not comprehensive enough.

Is engineering here worth it?

Students are eligible from 7th semester to sit for interviews. The pod.ai app helps us in making the resume and calculating a cgpa to appear for the intwrviews. The pod.ai registration fees is 500?. Companies such as nissan,infosys,commandtech,bimlabs,gulfasia etc has visited . And the highest package was 11 LPA and lowest was 3 LPA

If you want to be in a controlled environment, focus on academics, make use of some good placement opportunities, and get somewhere career-wise I would be suggesting Amrita University.

MEC EEE REVIEW

I applied to cet, tkm, gec for branches eee and ec My first option was cet for which i couldn't get admission due to my rank. Cet requires rank below 1000. And my second option was mec (my college). I choose this college over gec and tkm because it was in my home town itself and it had better placement opportunities. MEC Thrikkakkara: Strong Academics and Placements, but Room for Infrastructure Growth

My cousin studied here few years back and is now working a top tech company.I applied for Cs in MSRIT and AMRITA,but the fee structure over there is too high(around 3-4 lakh per year).Here overall fee amount is equivalent the yearly fee.To get admission in MEC,a person needs to write keam exam .Three phases of allotment are held in here.At the beginning of all allotment,we could change our preferences.For CSE BATCH,CUTOFF RANK FOR merit is around 2k and Management around 3.5k .For CSBS it's around 3k for Merit and 7-8k for management....Read More

Good for social life but very minimal infrastructure and facilities

The reason I chose this college over other options were due to the prime location in which it is present and due to the city it is present in . MEC is renowned for the placement opportunities available in this college and is placed in the top 3 colleges in Kerala in terms of placemenets . The admission is based on the student's KEAM rank and this rank decides whether you get the Merit seat or management seat . For others you also have an NRI seat .
