A review by currently studying student

The course and curriculum matches very much with makaut curriculum but as it is autonomous it has its own curriculum with a slight change. Although the overall curriculum is good like it cover all the important topics of computer science and engineering. But in some places I can say the ordering of subjects can be better like operating system is in second semester but computer architecture is in third it's ordering can be reversed. These are some areas where I can suggest the curriculum can be better.

The college offers the campus placement from the 7th semester. In the 7 th semester only the companies started coming to our college with an average package of 4-5lpa. Although there are some companies which offers around 12 lpa. Although the placement rate depends on market but still I guess atleast half of the students gets placed Many students also opt for the higher studies like Gate etc.

The current semester fees of HITK is 69,500 per Tution fee is 60500 and a development fee of 9000 is charged per sem. It's same for all departments and for each semester. Along with that there are some registration fees per year. Students also have to summit an examination fee of 1200 per sem. So the total fees of 8 semesters is around 6 lakhs. But it was quite less a year ago. Recently it has increased its fees from 4lakhs to 6 lakhs. Not only for the new batch, but it has also increased its fees for the students who have already completed their one year in this college, that too without a prior notice. So it is crucial to say that what it fees will be in upcoming years. Also there is no such offical scholarship provided by the college even for the meritorious students of college. If you will ask about the scholarship they will just suggest you some scholarships that you can apply.

There are many clubs in our college like dance, music, drama, art and craft, fashion, writing etc. many of them are active also but there are very less fest and all. But there are events of independence day, republic day, Durga Puja etc in which all the clubs performed also some clubs will also take part in events occur in different colleges of Kolkata. But there is an inter- departmental sports week which consists of various sports and all departments compete with each other

The hostel facilities are only for girls. The room rents of hostels are quite high comparing with other room rents of the locality. The hostel room(non AC) rents are 6500 to 7000 per month. The hostel room comprises of a bed a cupboard and a study table. They will provide one induction for a hostel and fridge in each floor. You will not get the laundry facility. You can bring your electronic appliances like iron straightener etc. Talking about the mess, the mess fee is 2600 per month and it is collected seperately by wardens. They will provide meal for three times a day and snacks only on three days, a week. It will provide nonveg on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Although the mess food is like okay okay

Comparing with other colleges of wbjee, this is the value for money college. It has increased its college fees now but before that it offers the btech degree with the total fees of 4 lakhs only with a very good education. It stands as the best private engineering college in Kolkata and too with a minimal fee . But now it also has increased its fees. so this perspective may not be right anymore. The college takes admission from wbjee counseling which is based on wbjee rank and jee mains rank also. The average cutoff for CSE is around 4000 rank. You can also take IT and cse specialization with a rank around 6000. If you achieve a good ygpa in 1st year then you also get the chance to change your stream. Although college takes most of the admission based on wbjee counseling but it also takes direct admission also called management quota. They have to deposit a donation fee for their admission.this donation fee varies from course to course

The faculty members of the college is quite good. They teaches you very well although some are exceptions but overall it is nice. The faculty mostly use English as their language. Sometimes they shift to bengoli but as soon as you tell them that you aren't able to understand they will teach in english only. They also provide you notes which will be very helpful in semester exam. This is an autonomous college so just by attending proper classes and studying from faculty's notes, you can easily score a good cgpa. The faculties are helpful also. Like you can go to their cabin in the college hours and they will clear all your doubts.
